Okay, so this is obviously a horrible story, but do they actually teach you to plug bullet holes with your fingers in the military?

I know Justice is blind but has she become Quadrapalegic also?

Whut? This don't make no sense. There is no she in that story 'cept for an ancillary reference.
They're lucky they slowed him down with a .22. That Marine would have wiped the floor with them.

Justice is usually portrayed at a woman hence the she. Not sure about the quadriplegic reference.

Two charged with attempted murder and held without bail? Do you want the cops to beat them mercilessly with bamboo? I don't get what you're insinuating.
He's lucky made it out OK. Many people underestimate what a .22 can do. Very dangerous gun.

A friend of a friend who had done multiple tours in Iraq told me they carried tampons for gunshot wounds. Insert into the wound, no more bleeding.

They teach you to use anything you have on hand to stop the bleeding.

Welcome to the adventure that is South Florida. That happened about 10 miles from my house. Wonder how many ex-marines will they meet in jail that might take offense at what they did?

For all we know they might be ex-marines.

And also this. You do what you have to. Fingers, bandages, tampons, etc.

There is no such thing as an ex-Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Direct pressure to stop bleeding. It is truly amazing what you can accomplish with nothing but direct pressure. I have stopped Monty Python-esq bleeding with direct pressure. If fingers is all ya got, fingers is what ya use.
- Airway.
- Breathing.
- Circulation. (This is the fingers/whatever part.)
- Disability...

My cousin was a marine before he was a con. You can be an ex-marine just like you can be an ex-con. Sometimes at the same time.

If they were Marines it would not have been a .22.
In reply to Rusted_Busted_Spit:
Or more likely- two in the chest, one in the head.

You need to meet more Marines, because you seem to completely lack understand of what it is to be a Marine.

Father-in-law, his sons, Uncle, two cousins and several childhood friends whom I am still friendly with. Only young marines believe that E36 M3 they tell you to make you do what they need done. Everyone is a little wiser in their old age. Or savagely drunk... but no more or less dangerous than anybody else.

It's not a choice or a belief; there are characteristics you'll see are common amongst Marines, even the ones that have berkeleyed up.
In case I ever get shot, I'm definitely taking note of the tampon thing though.
In reply to MG Bryan:
Tampon thing is brilliant. Since I'm a married man - I have them on hand most of the times I'm likely to be shot.

They are also handy when cleaning shotguns
As a Marine (former) lets see if I can clear some things up...
The subject of this thread is without doubt certainly not an 'Ex-Marine'
Although
It is possible to be an Ex Marine. I have known a couple, and seen a couple.
They are not very common.. All but a very few are "Once a Marine, Always a Marine"
But there are exceptions..

You need a lot of them to plug the hole they leave, though.
In an episode of Magnum P.I., they flash backed to VietNam. The chopper pilot (AJ?) was shot in the leg and Magnum told him to jam his finger in the hole to stop the bleeding.
Hmmmm..... Intense pain and bleed to death or intense pain, more pain, possibly bleed to death?
Too close to call.
