We seem to have a podcast thread, if a little old, but quite concise:
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/podcast-for-android/185544/page1/
And I do currently use and like Pocket Casts.
BUT it doesn't cater for one thing: I do most of my listening while driving around, and I have a lot of "i should follow up on that" moments. I want an app that lets me hit a button or say "mark" or something and make a bookmark to take me back to a specific spot in a podcast.
Anybody know of a podcast app that does that sort of thing?

Check out Pocdcast Addict. I didn't like it as much as Pocket Casts though.
Funny timing though, my Pocket Casts app just had a popup for their (paid) Bookmark feature. I really like the app so I think I would pay up for Plus

Thanks! I found a reference this morning to someone requesting this feature on Pocket Casts, but I didn't see it existed as part of the paid version! It seems slightly pricey for a player which doesn't itself actually provide any content (I mean, you can get all the podcasts on any platform for free), so $40/year seems a lot for a tarted up mp3 player... But it's a good one, I like the way it jumps back a little when you come back to an episode, and now it has the feature I was asking about. Maybe I should just pay up and see how much I use the premium feature(s).

I've tried damn near every podcast app on the market. Every six months or so I try some different ones, and I keep coming back to Pocket Casts. Yes, at the end of the day it's just an audio player, but it has some unique features that I really like, and it's very customizable. So even if the premium features aren't technically "worth" the money, I'm happy to kick some to the development team. They need to eat, too.

Yeah, I use it a ton and it's absolutely worth paying for. I'm just a little sticker-shocked that such a lightweight app isn't like... $10/year, or $40 outright. It's unusual for a one-trick app to cost such a chunk. But it's not much more than $3/mo, and I use it a lot, so... I'm just going to stop sniveling and click subscribe. I'm sure I've spent more for less more often than I want to think about.
