For those who may not be up to speed, here's the cliff notes as I understand them
April 28th 1996 a man enters a cafe and opens fire. In 15 seconds he kills 12 people by shots to the head, firing from the hip. He eventually kills 35 people, and wounds 21 in a matter of minutes. The man arrested for the shooting was Martin Bryant. A man who has an IQ in the 60's, is legally retarded, and has only previously used a single shot air rifle. This event prompts strict anti-gun laws.
I had heard several things failed to add up about this shooting. But I had no idea how many things. Pull up a chair and prepare for some long reading. I will disclaim at this point, at some points the author does seem say, "Believe me because I said scientifically!". But it's a very good article.

At several points I honestly felt sick about what I was reading. But facts do seem to be facts. How can a man like Martin Bryant act with such precision, to put some of the best Soldiers on Earth to shame? I'd like to see what my fellow GRMers stance on this is.
Elvis did it under the hypnosis of little green men.

Not all that different from the case where the FBI pinned the blame on Bruce Ivins for those scary anthrax letters back in 2001. There is a lot of questionable stuff in that one too that just doesn't add up. Really when it comes down to it there is no real evidence at all that he was the sender of those letters. but now he is dead and gets the blame as the lone bio-terrorist acting alone.
EDIT: A bit ironic that at the present time the thread next to this one is titled "AR-15 kits?".
I haven't read the whole article yet, but it does look interesting. Like the part where the receiver and barrel exploded from "a faulty cartridge." I have never heard of an AR doing that.
It has also been pointed out that the new firearm laws that came out immediately after this sure seemed to have been written prior and were just waiting for an "incident" to push them past the dumb E36 M3's, I mean, the citizens. Same as they do here.
Also, the real Crocodile Dundee was gunned down by the PoPo and appears to have been framed for "drugs." He refused to give up his guns.
After repeatedly reading that the author would only be looking at facts;
- As an investigator I insist on dealing only with hard facts
- these are facts based on scientific investigations
I was getting annoyed with the assumptions he stated as fact, then stopped reading at this point.
Joe Vialls said: Whoever was on the trigger in Tasmania managed a kill rate well above that required of a fully trained soldier, an impossible task for a man with Martin Bryant's mid-sixties IQ and his total lack of military training, which is an interesting but largely unimportant observation because we have already proved in absolute scientific terms that Bryant could not have acted alone. That leaves us looking for the motive, which is impossible to determine with any certainty, though it is reasonable to cross link this to Yvonne Fletcher's pre-meditated murder in London purely in terms of cause and effect.
Improbable? yes. But not factually impossible. And other points about human behavior in videos not being normal now becomes a "fact" that they are involved as well. I don't care how much of it is true, when assumptions and improbabilities are shoved down my throat as "facts" I stop reading.

I stopped reading once he said that eyewitness accounts shouldn't be considered at all. Witnesses are certainly fallible, but to say that we shouldn't consider their testimony at all sets a pretty wacky legal precedent.
A very strange story. There are a lot of things that don't add up.
If this act were indeed carried out by a professional why would he have fired from the hip?
I couldn't sit through the whole thing but seeing as he cleared the Lybians in the flight 103 bombing, Tim McVeigh in OKC and Lee Harvey Oswald all in the same paper I have some trouble buying it.

My thoughts exactly.
If you want to instantly add credibility to your argument find a way to make a connection to Lee Harvey Oswald...
I have not had time to read it, but does he also bring up the TWA 747 that was shot down over Long Island Sound?
Hasn't anybody ever watched a kung-fu movie? He was a retarded savant who was really good at shooting, duh.
