Also NSFW but if you dare, look him up reading 50 Shades of Grey.
He had muscular dystrophy. I had to do some reading about the disease - I thought it was something only seen in young kids, but there are forms that can affect adults as well.
Well, that's a bummer. I was never his biggest fan, but I follow enough comedians on social media to know he was very well loved in that community.
Sad news. Saw him freshman year and somehow scored like third-row seats.
He only opened his eyes once during the entire performance: during his Seinfeld bit.
We actually booed him offstage at Jones Beach Theatre back in 87 (88?). He was a last minute sub for Paul Carrack who was supposed to open for Belinda Carlisle. That's right, I went to a Belinda Carlisle concert. Fight me.

My first real concert ever, age 16. The Go-Go first album tour. Opening act, A Flock of Seagulls. A double date kinda thing with my older sister and her boyfriend. He drove. Pine Knob Amphitheater, Detroit.

Dang. I didn't even think of that.
Too many funny comedians dying. Gilbert was an acquired taste but I had grown to enjoy his style of humor. RIP.

Belinda Carlisle in the late '80s was awesome!!! Susanna Hoffs too...
AFLAC!!!!!! To me, I could take his voice in relatively small doses. He was damn good at what he did.

Same sentiment. Was essentially non existent to me 20 years ago but I eventually evolved to appreciate him.
When I was a kid I thought his performance as the parrot in Disney's Aladdin was the best thing ever. RIP.

Myotonic Dystrophy. Note that it isn't just the muscles it impacts, it hits organs and really all of your sub-systems.
My father died of it in 2018, but symptoms began appearing for him around 1980. They aren't kidding when they say "long illness".
