You mean the no fly zones that they don't put on the map because al-Quaida? Any enforcement authority doesn't have a leg to stand on on that one.

Still doesn't mean that some rent-a-cop or pissant sheriff won't try to shoot you down though.

Why can't you land at Area 51? The gub-mint says it's "just" an airstrip.

I like the one over DC that starts less than a mile from the end of Kentmoor's strip on Kent Island MD. It's called take off and bank to avoid being shot down

There's a big difference between the charted restricted and prohibited areas like DC and Area 51 (and a very large portion of New Mexico) and the uncharted power plant and industrial facilities that some bureaucrat thought would make himself look good if he made a "no-fly" rule for.

Even the temporary restrictions around large public events (college football stadiums on game day, NASCAR races, etc. are published with advance notice given, though they play funny timing games on the presidential ones-- I can recall asking if I'd be able to leave at a certain time and being told they couldn't give me that information in advance.

It's also kind of odd that Disney has had "temporary" flight restrictions in place over their properties since 2001. Suspect those have more to do with keeping banner tow operators out of their hair than any real security risk.

I remember watching a Discovery Channel thing back in 96 or 97 about Area 51. The host and a camera man got a Cessna and went and flew at 7-8,000 feet within 1/2 mile parallel to Area 51 airspace. The two F-15s that showed up shortly thereafter said they weren't allowed to do that anymore. And they made a point of banking to show them the full compliment of missiles they were carrying.

TV Tropes says that Zooey Deschanel is a "Manic Pixie Dreamgirl". Personally, I find her to be an "Annoying Self-absorbed Bitch".

Huh, I'm impressed you've met her and spent enough time with her to know her that well!

The father of the 15 YO girl will be really freaked out when he finds out that Keyhole satellites can already read the text on her iPhone. Maybe he has enough pull to get their orbits changed....

Hey if the NSA does the same things with satellite imagery that they do with Internet data...

or maybe...

I know her precisely as well as anybody else in this thread does. I go by the persona I see her putting forth in her public face. If that's not what she's really like in her secret heart of hearts, she's welcome to change the way she presents herself to the world. Or not, as she sees fit.

Dude, she meets your criteria, she doesn't meet mine. In theory, she should seriously be able to paddle my watercraft, but in apparent reality, she just doesn't, based on her perceived personality.

I'm OK with having unpopular opinions.

I understand the whole place has been relocated to Dugway. I was supposed to go there once, last minute stuff; I found a pretty good reason to bow out.

Dugway's another secret base, Area 51 is still being used for testing secret planes though. If they were going to relocate to Dugway, they'd need to build a super-long runway there for their hypersonic suborbital stuff.
