wow, that was pretty frackin' cool - watched a sold-out midnite show. Despite "knowing" the plot this was a great movie. Do not miss. Sure the original is a can't be topped classic, but this was a fun movie. The movie was a little less scary, but it had it's share of tension, Laurence Fishburne was class, and an Ahnuld role reprised by an Oscar winner, who'da thunk it?
It's amazing how many times "The Most Dangerous Game" can be remade. It's also amazing how many of the remakes are actually kinda good (or at least fun to watch). I'll probably see it soon.

Good to hear. I was really unsure of how this was going to work out.
Hmmm. On the fence. I'll probably check it out if they play it at the drive-in. That Adrian Brody dude is pretty high up on my list of most annoying / whose blank did you blank to get a role in ANYTHING? actors. Plus, no professional wrestlers? WTF?

The girlfriend and I are planning to go out and see that tonight. Not sure if we should buy tickets ahead of time, or if we can just show up and be okay.

Not to split hairs, but I don't think I'd compare Predator(s) to that story. It loses it's creepiness when it's not regular dudes on the hunt, but instead, some invisible toothy-vadge-mouthed alien. You know, he's kinda got the upper hand there.
That said, that one with Gary Busey and Ice-T was pretty rad. I mean, how could you go wrong, really?
How many governors were in this one? If it less than two, I'll take the original.
I liked it. I cought the first showing this morning, 9:30.
Just got back. I enjoyed:
Alice Braga as "Michelle Rodriguez"
Laurence Fishburne as "Exposition Jones"
Danny Trejo as "Danny Trejo"
Gratuitous nods to the original movie
Zero nods to anything having to do with the AvP bad dreams.
Adrien Brody as a tough talking tough guy (who knew? I want to see him punch more stuff now)
Walton Goggins. The best bad guy on the best show on TV (Justified) was fantastic
I did not enjoy:
Topher Grace (he was fine as comic relief/fish out of water until his completely cheap and unnecessary "twist" at the end)
While Fishburne's acting was awesome, the character was also cheap and unnecessary. It was a waste of a good performance. So much cool stuff could have been done with that character.
The "Predator vs. Predator" angle also seemed out of place. Like they had a larger story arc built around it but it got edited out/abandoned in the writing process. In the end, it served more as a time killer than anything. Again, cool concept that should have either been properly developed or abandoned.
Overall, C+ as a movie in its own right. But total bonus points that there's a reasonably cool treatment of the Predator world again. Dutch would be proud.

I feel it is open to anothe sequel. In both the Predator Vs. Predator aspect and, that the 2 survivers are still on that planet.
I'm a huge fan of the predator series of books, they go pretty deep into the whole predator vs predator competition. I'm actually quite excited about this one, just waiting for the crowds to clear out some.
I liked it. I gotta agree, they vaguely mention the P v P thing, and then move on. Yeah it was a little over the top, but come on, thats the point right? I didn't go in expecting much, so I wasn't disappointed. I could be disappointed about the Yakuza guy, or the most wanted dude, or the doctor who suddenly likes killing people. But I took it for what it was worth, and enjoyed it.
