i have used the emerson it is not bad for 40bucks @ biglots (of Junk)

Screw it, i ordered both versions, free shipping. $60 to my door.

I'll try to get around to doing a comparison between them, the Emerson HD Action cam, and the GoPro Hero 3 Silver we have.

I read the reviews on the cheapest one and though it says the battery can be recharged via cell phone type charger, it says it can not record while charging.
I could not find any info on the more expensive one for charge/record.

Ok they both arrived yesterday.

The 720p unit uses the same exact case as the 720p Emerson Action cam, and look identical at first glance, but has a slightly larger touch-screen than the Emerson, vs. a small scree and 3 buttons for the Emerson. Lens looks slightly more "real camera-ish."

The 1080p unit is bigger, bigger screen, heavier,better built, and has a slight fish-eye effect in 1080p 30fps setting. Guessing due to a lens not really quite up to the task, but seems good so far.

The REALLY funny part about all this is that the mount kits that these things came with were worth the price of admission alone. Big, beefy mounts.

Oh, and they advertise right on the packaging that they're 100% compatible with all GoPros.

So... the 1080p camera cam with a car kit, surf kit, and outdoors kit. That's in addition to the basic mounts that come with the bare-bones retail kit.

The 720p camera came with a car kit in addition to the bare-bones retail kit.

If you bought these equivalent mounts under the GoPro brand on Amazon, you'd spend twice that just for mounts.

I will try to get some video out of these in the next couple weeks.

I picked up three of these. I did a few recordings and for the price, they aren't bad. I'll be using these in places I don't want to risk my GoPro and Swann. It'll also be a good one for the kids to use on the gokart.

Vibration control isn't the best in the world, but about what I would expect for the price. I still say it's worth the dollars spent. Even with them up to $25 now.

Fyi, there's a GoPro copy out there that i'm surprised hasn't been sued to hell and back.

Search "SJ4000 action cam" on Ebay. Looks like a Hero 3 HD for $100 shipped. Good samples on Youtube.

I've got some test footage of the 787HD Vivitar. Video quality is quite decent.

Audio quality is completely unusable.

Hoping i can figure something out with it.
