Fellow Inmates Reportedly Sang “Hey, Teacher, Leave Those Kids Alone” To Jerry Sandusky

Following guilty verdicts on 45 of 48 counts, Jerry Sandusky was shipped off to Centre County Correctional Facility, the same facility he was initially held in December. According to a fellow inmate at the time, known only as Josh, Sandusky was on the receiving end of some a cappella ridiculing.

Other prisoners were barred from communicating directly with Sandusky, but they could see him. And when the lights went out, inmates serenaded the disgraced coach with a famous line from Pink Floyd's "The Wall."

"At night, we were singing ‘Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone,' " Josh said, adding that everyone knew who Sandusky was because inmates had access to television and newspapers.

I bet he is kept away from the general population. Shouldn't be, but he will.

SWMBO's favorite T-shirt at the moment...

She's a detention officer. That's PC language for "jail guard".

Yes, he will be in segregation. That's a bunch of crap. He victimized the innocent, why should he be protected anymore than a run-of-the-mill gangster?

I think that kind of takes away some of the deterrent of being in prison.

He is going to die in there anyway... 442yrs is a long time even for fictional vampires. No point in postponing the inevitable. Put him in general population.

If it weren't a televised and media inflated event, he would be in general population.

You think that is true?

I dunno....

I have heard that there are certain crimes that are not put in general population just due to the nature of being in prison, and everyone knows what others did. Pedos are kept away just due to the high probability of violence from other inmates- regardless of the coverage.

But I surely could be wrong. dunno.

I may be wrong as well, but the media attention will keep the correctional facility walking very softly and carrying a very very large stick.

Certainly, the media crush has a major impact.

Yeah, because being isolated from pretty much all human interaction (except maybe the guards who think you're E36 M3) is getting off easy. Dude is going to rot.

Sure, I see the humor in the t-shirt but oh, how I wish it was true.
I wish they would leave a noose and a chair up in the common area at all times. Sort of like recreation equipment and it is there 24 hours a day. Feel free to use it any time, no one is stopping you.
Do us all the favor. Win-win.

They usually keep pedos and snitches segerated.

But so was Jeffery Dahlmer.

While I don't particularly agree with taking the right to suicide away (yes, I just called that a right), isn't it more punishing to be forced to stay alive all you want to do is shorten your sentence by ending your life?

Prison farms. Make them fix the roads and grow their own food. Use the money saved to fix the roads to pay the guards' salaries. I wouldn't be so against prisons if they weren't a total-loss system.

I'm not sure if it's really all that inflated. If this were Bob the street sweeper being arrested on similar charges, there are a couple differences I can see which legitimately make things different.

  1. Bob the street sweeper hasn't been able to accumulate the same level of influence and power, as well as access to teenage boys. Unless he volunteers somewhere like as a Scoutmaster, he's either reduced to handing out free candy from his street sweeping truck, or the creepy uncle method. Probably not going to rack up the same victim count.

  2. Who's going to cover for Bob if someone tells the Department of Sanitation he's out molesting kids? They'll just hire another street sweeper. The fact that someone decided, "Yeah, he's a perv, but we'll keep him around since he wins us games" is also important news.

I agree, but, yes, but, would you deny Bob, the street sweeper wouldn't get the same instantaneous and thoroughly nationwide news coverage?

Its really a moot point. Without the media's attention, the warden wouldn't be worried about being caught with his pants down. With the media, he is. That was my point in that post.

That is how Jerry got there in the first place. One has to be careful where he is seen with his pants down always. It is what separates us from the primates. Pants.

If he racked up the same victim count, it probably would be national news, but it would probably take something more to get the same level of coverage. For example, if Bob became a Scoutmaster and then higher-ups in the Boy Scouts tried to cover it up - that would probably be news on the same level, if not more.
