As a CTS-V owner, I'm sad to report that I can no longer deny that BMW has topped Cadillac. These pictures prove it.

Just prooves what i thought all along, BMW owners, compared to Caddy owners, were always a little light in the loafers.....

I thought GM was having a tough time moving cars off the lot.

And I would have tried to fit it in the trunk of the Cadillac. Go figure

After years of taking the abuse, Import car owners strike back by throwing their cars at GM dealers.

naaa. it's easy. When the V's rear end explodes or transmission gives out the BMW simply passes the broken vehicle and moves on. (My buddy had an early V, drove like a grandma and went through 3 whining rear ends and 2 transmissions. No Really, he drives like a grandma. Sold it before the warranty ran out.)

yUP.... again referring to past cars not current. Typical GM bashing comments. Want me to go into the fact that EVERY BMW 3 series I've seen in the shop had bent arms, worn out bushings and was gonna cost a fortune to make safe again? All with less than 80k miles.

Incorrect... I am relating personal experience, not bashing randomly. The damn car had 3 rear ends and 2 transmissions in 45k miles. No matter what you say, you cannot take back the fact that the transmissions and rear ends were replaced. The bearing whine on decel was stupid.

Now the car was fast and comfy and never broke down truly.

Nice picture. I love the first generation CTS-V's and would take one over an E-46 M3 and any M5. A new four door M3 would make me change my tune. However longer term reliability remains to be seen.

The early CTS-V rear ends are troublesome. Apparently since there was a service bulletin to use the updated 06-08 rear end when doing repairs the frequency of problems have lessened.

I am still surprised that ignorants friend had problems with the transmission. It is just a T-56 which are generally regarded as trouble free.

to be honest.. I think it was the rear end whining and GM got so fed up with my friend complaining they started throwing parts at it.

My friend bought it new when they first came out and paid nearly sticker for it. I think the massive ammount of cash he laid down for the car really soured me on them. I know they are a good used bargain. However, like clarkson says, the interior of the car did feel cheap. Especially for the price paid.

I would agree that the interior is not up to par with say an E39 M5 (which I love). I just see the prices for V's at under 20k with around 50-75k miles and start checking the finances. Too bad with a house and my overly cautious spending habits I can't justify it.

Maybe 10k is the magic number?

He sold it 2-3 years ago for $24k on ebay. It went to the wife of a CTS-V and Corvette road racer. For the life of me I can't remember his name, but he is famous with a well know shop.

I've driven a first-gen CTS-V and an E46 M3. The M3 is undeniably a great car. It's dead sexy and really comfortable and pretty fast, and it's also one of my dream cars. But the V...it just makes the M3 look like a prissy momma's boy. The M3 is James Bond, the V is Jason Bourne. Who gives a damn what the interior looks like? Put your foot to the floor and turn the steering wheel, that's what matters. It is retardedly fast. In any gear at any speed. And as sweet as the VANOS 3.3 liter in the M3 sounds, it can't top the LS.

All that said, the BMW driver ruined a bunch of great cars, BMWs and Caddys alike, he should probably be waterboarded or shot in the face by Dick Cheney.
