On that note. Added some goofy traction aids from Amazon and got the snowblower out today.
Works great now. Some wheel weights or filled tires would make it even better.

I could stick the tiller back on but with only one set of hydraulics, dropping the snowblower means dragging the tiller.
I'd have to build the weight box so it stays off the ground, even when the three point is all the way down.
45ish years ago, we drilled a hole and added a bolt so the tiller wouldn't drop on the 442, so I could mow without taking the tiller off. Single acting cylinder back there, I think.
Can mow with the tiller on, can't till with the mower on.
The 446 has a double acting cylinder. I can lift the rear of the tractor with the three point.
Yes, I suppose. The 442 was yellow, so older, and had a pivoting hitch deal instead of a proper 3 point, now that I think about it.
Yes, if it just has the sleeve hitch, there's a lockout bolt that goes through a plate.
It's all good, just a minor thing really, I'm not too worried. If the Case won't handle the snow, I have a real tractor that will.

Been a busy week.
I placed our spring seed order mid-week. I thought I was doing it early but the wholesalers were already out of a few items. I'm also on the list for asparagus crowns in the spring.
I ordered a single shank ripper to go behind the tractor (will fit either one). It will make breaking ground on the new plot in the spring a lot easier. Transplanting will be easier too, just make a furrow and plunk in the plants.
The clay soil here turns into adobe brick when it dries. I'm glad we've got a few hayburners making organic material for me.
Went to a market on Saturday, talked to lots of folks and made a bit of money. Cat grass was a big seller at this one. Decent margin too.
Went to the local hockey game on Saturday night. This place makes me feel like a kid in a small town again. The rink only had three rows of seats, had a burger with the neighbors, said hi to the guy who owns the dealership I bought my truck from. Guy who made my burger at the rink is one of our customers from the flea market in the summer.
The grow house is working well, I need to install a bathroom fan in there to suck some of the heat out. It got to +38c (100f) in there the other day, the plants didn't like it very much.
Wife unit started with Canada Post today, just part time casual for now but it's a foot in the door and will help with some money coming in.
Got the baseboard heater installed in the grow house so I can stop stressing about running a space heater in there at night.
We found a great pair of tiffany style lamps to go up in the house, the look great with the stained glass we have in the windows.
I've got a pot of homemade baked beans cooking on the stove and I'm watching the horizontal snow go past the window. Staying in for most of today.
With the grow house getting so warm during the day is there any way to capture and store that to keep it warmer at night? Something like ceramic bricks in the sun that will get warm and then release it later.

Everything in the room will store a bit of heat.
Surprisingly, barrels of water will store the most. Brick or rock is quite a bit less efficient than water
I might be able to use some water filled drums but the floor is only so strong. I used 2x10 on 12" centers to span 14 feet so a wall of water is out.
I'm hoping that big black pots full of soil on the back wall will help. That way I can grow something in them too. Probably tomatoes, peppers or cucumber. Stuff that likes to be warm.
Baked beans were awesome.
I baked a couple loaves of French bread to go with. Turned out very yummy.

i ran a 12 month greenhouse, 10x15' in a Northern Climate, and was able to go without any secondary heating by using 35gal Black Water drums on the wall opposite the windows and sun exposure. Even on the coldest of winter nights, with it shut up air-tight, it'd only get down to 42. I temp-monitored for the entire winter. I even plumbed my irrigation drips into the barrel water instead of a hose and would just top off once a week. I was quite impressed/amazed at how self-sustainable an ecosystem can be, even in harsh climates, with a little ingenuity and the power of the sun.
Bit of an update, things are slowing down because winter.
We did a market on Saturday which was a bust, made about $40. We've been talking to other vendors here and our friends on the coast who do markets and everyone is saying the same thing, people just aren't spending money this year.
Hopefully spring will be good to us when the veggies come in. People need to eat, right?
We're thinking about adding some Christmas trees to a bit of our property that is pretty unloved but I need to do some more research.
Wife unit had her first day at the post office today so I was busy with chores at home. Watered the horses and mucked out the barn this morning. It's actually easier in the cold, frozen poop is lighter.
Moved the manure piles with the tractor which was rather grumpy at me because it was -20c outside today. So glad I bought a tractor with a heated cab.
Learning about manure management, there's a bit of a science to it. I'm glad to have it though, it will be a big help with our clay soil and I don't have to pay for it.
I called the garbage people today to take the dumpster away at the end of the month. We've had once since summer, it gets emptied once a month but we barely have enough trash in there to cover the bottom. So much goes to recycling now that we barely have any trash to deal with. I'm just going to use the transfer station once a month or less. Right now we're spending $175 every three months for the bin so that will cut costs.
Got some lettuce sprouting in the greenhouse so that's exciting!
