So, Happy Andy died and quite frankly, I'm gutted. His wife didn't know how to get in contact with me so I wasn't even able to make the funeral. I want to do something to remember him by, but can't think of anything just yet. Except maybe take his avatar and use it for a while.
What do you guys feel about that? Would be be confusing, disrespectful, or just odd?
I guess it would be a little odd, but maybe just for me. I recognize avatars almost as much as the name next to it. It would probably shock me a bit.
That said, signature lines are good for that sort of thing...Cant put a pic there, but maybe some text like "We will miss you Happy Andy" or something to that effect.
His loss will be palpable on the forums, as well as IRL...RIP

His Avatar was a fairly new one and I don't even really recognize it as him going back through some threads. His older one is the one I knew him by.
I hate to ask but I'm wondering how it happened? The last post I saw from him was June 13th.
I would say use the avitar but maybe edit in a black diagonal strip in the corner or something?
If it makes you feel better I say do it. I don't think it is offensive.
@ Nick - Last post appears to be on the 24th in the crashing sucks thread. I wonder the same thing. I wonder if it is complications from his crash? In either case it really sucks that he is gone.

It effects me more than I think it should whenever we lose a member of this community. But then I think about it. Most of us have had nearly daily interactions with each of these individuals in many cases for a decade or more. Maybe not a direct conversation, but at least reading what they wrote. You do get to somewhat know a person. I get to thinking about that and the loss is real, so it makes sense that it effects me that deeply.
