You are correct. Back when I was in pliers school our instructors would slam us for saying motor instead of engine. Then years later the subject came up on a Mustang forum I was on, and in the end it came out that an engine is a motor, but a motor isn't necessarily an engine. IIRC, the SAE is the body that defines them. A motor converts some form of energy into to do work, or create motion. An internal combustion engine does that by burning fuel. An electric motor obviously does that with electricity. Both are motors.

it depends what you are after.. an L69 305 is a damn good torque/economy engine, but you aren't going to win too many races against a decent 350 no matter how many good parts you throw at it.

the bone stock L69 in my 86 Caprice averaged 28mpg in regular daily driving and would do 30 on the interstate at 80mph with the cruise engaged and the AC blowing ice cold.. it wasn't a speed demon, but i was never afraid to pull out in traffic.
