I'd probably try to keep it really simple, and connect it to the owners in some way. Like if you're a softball/baseball family call it the dugout or the curveball. If you're more into football then saturdays or six points.
id go for genuine over word play in this case.
Maybe angle on women's volleyball? I feel like that sport is gaining significant momentum right now. So llbero or the net?
Also, it was already mentioned but we have a longstanding townie pub here called the fifth quarter. They have great pizza as well as the regular drinks.
I don't think I saw "The game room"
When younger I played industrial league softball for a bar called "My brothers place", could spin that concept to something like "my sisters place", although those may be too gender specific
There's a local restaurant and pub here called "The other place", another one called "The fix"
The Goal Post

I used to frequent The Oar House when I was in university. Took me an embarrassingly long time to realize.
Still there should you ever be in town for some Alma-Mattering

Langley used to have a joint called Baselines.
The Alabama Blackhawks are a local team, and you could do a play on an English pub that use "cock" instead of rooster and call it the Black...NO, NO, no that is bad. Scratch that entirely. Forget that.
How about something retro, like Bombers Sports Bar? The Birmingham location would be called Birmingham Bombers..oh wait. NO, NO, no that, nevermind.
Yeah, I would just stick with the road name and sports bar.
The most popular sports bar in Charleston when I was going to bars was called Sports Bar and Grill. Simple and to the point and there was no doubt about what they did.

I hear you.
There's a rural country convenience store nearby. It's called "The Store"
SEC fans = End Zone? Something football-ish? There's a program called "Bar Rescue"; a professional comes in, revamps your bar, trains the people, yells a lot but you make money. Here's a list of the bars he fixed. Unfortunately the changed names are not listed.

There is a similar one called "Restaurant: Impossible". I was watching it last night.

To expand on this angle, how about just 'The Turn'? You can double entendre it with both racing and golf terms... both of which I'd imagine are popular in that neck of the woods.

Don't forget poker... None of which are particularly helpful if it's more of a sportsball crowd though.

TRIPLE entendre. This is why they pay us so much to be on here constantly!
There is one in Tallahassee called "Walk Ons" started by two guys that were FSU walk-ons. It struck me because of the positive nature of the underdog and the commonality of the "I'm not elite but I made it anyway."
Therefore, I'm a fan of John's earlier suggestion of "Benchwarmers." Advertising themes about being for the rest of us, the common folk. Would also include the female slant of family and not just aimed at the serious superstars.

Thirst and goal or benchwarmers.
