What is the last production CAR you know of to come with a 70 series sidewall tire?

::EDIT:: Year also

I always liked the look of 70 series tires.

2004 Hyundai Accent GL's still had 175/70R13's.

I know the 96 Caprice 9C1 had 225/70R15s. Tough size to find these days.

Thanks y'all. This was brought up at work when someone (an older gentleman who "knows everything" about vehicles) said we should do a simulation to compare 45 series tires to 70 series tires. Other than SUVs and Trucks, we (who received his email) couldn't think of anything that used 70 series tires anymore.

Does anyone ever ask a slow question?

There are no slow questions, only slow people.

actually, the 9C1 would have left the factory with 235/70/15 tires, same with the wagons and any other Caprice with the HD suspension. every other Caprice had the 225/70/15 tires. this is true from about 87 until the end of production after the 96 model year. but somewhere along the lines, it seems every Caprice winds up with 225's on it and most fitment charts don't show the 235's for some reason.

i think my mom's 99 Buick LeSabre had 215/70/15 tires on it- pretty sure that was the size on the base model W bodies (Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, etc) with steel wheels until at least the mid '00's..

I forget the actual size but my wives old cavalier had the 14 inch wheels with hubcaps and they were some ridiculous like 195/70

There are people who ask slow questions. I know a few. Slow questions go like this:

Hey, man, I have a question. You know the other day when we were out fishing and talking about how pretty much no modern cars have those 70 series tires in them? Yeah, well, I thought of one, that Hyundai from a few years ago. Other than that, pretty much only trucks are getting them. I think it is because the sidewall of the tire helps off-road and maybe deflects some of the harshness out of suspensions with high spring rates that were made for towing. You know, so they don't beat you up if you're hauling the boat. Anyhow, since I towed your butt out here so you could get to work, and it is 30 miles from your place, can I have some gas money?

In reply to novaderrik:

Well, the Lake County PD must have changed them out with a speedo reflash as well, because that's all mine ever had. And they weren't some cheap-o no name take offs either. They were Goodyear Eagle GT+4s.

Pursuit tires were almost always 235/70-15. GM made a minor deal about it on the first Tahoe cruiser, in how it used the same tires as the cars for reduced inventory with existing fleets.

I do seem to recall working on some P71 cruisers with 16", but I may be imagining things. There was some dope-slapping involved because some guy wanted us to put some cheapy tires on it and I pointed out, well see, this is an actual police car owned by the city for use as a police car, so you gotta put police car tires on it, so you can't tell them tires will be $450 for a set of four mounted when our cost for the correct tire is over $200 a pop.

Quick perusal of Firestone's website is that the Firehawk GT Pursuit is not available in 15" anymore. 225/60-18, 235/55-17, 265/60-17, and 235/50-18 are your only options. Retail "starts at" $368 each. Yowza.

I'm guessing that those are Charger, Impala, Tahoe, and Taurus, in that order.
