Wow, I can tell who is white and middle class in this discussion! People who complain about BET or the NAACP are the worst kind of racist because they don't even think that they are. Walk a mile in a real minority's shoes sometime, please.

You want a job, it needs to be based on your resume, not skin color. You want a loan for your small business, it should be based on your business plan not skin color. If there was any school that was set aside just for whites, or scholorships for whites etc. it would never fly. Anyway, back to my original post. You'll never hear of a "hate crime" that is perpetrated against white folks. The current system is racist in itself, really.... If we're "all the same" (And i do believe that we are) then let's just hold everyone to the same standards hrmmmm?
My point exactly. You want equality, act like it. I have just as much distaste for white "trailer trash" saying that all the furriners are takin thier jobs. No they aren't, you're too damn ignorant to get off the couch, shut off the TV and go make an honest buck. Same goes for minorities. I have a hard time believing the man is keeping you down when you're purposely acting like the biggest dumbass on the planet.

Heh. No kidding. I was just thinking the same thing. Then I consoled myself that I am no racist by watching interracial porn.

You don't think the points are valid that if "white" people had the equivalent of BET and NAACP that there would be riots? As has been pointed out, equality has been achieved, except for the people who push to keep unequal ideas alive like those programs.
I just think of ACORN or whatever it is and shudder.
BTW, I can tell who is a minority and feels oppressed! I also like that you "insta-call" everyone racist who doesn't like those programs.LULZ
LIttle storey... guy I used to work with is half black and half japanese. He mostly looks black (aside from the eyes) but is only 4'9" tall.
Years ago, I was following him. He was driving his nice shiney silver saturn coupe (nothing special, but a respectable daily driver) and I was following him in the work van. The van was a rolling DOT failure, hood was jammed shut, paint was peeling off of it, it was dented, smashed, and scraped and would have made the cars in the junkyard look good.
Going down the road a cop passes the other way.. and I swear he did an exorcist moment as he craned his neck around to almost 180 degrees to look at my buddy.. but totally ignored the trash heap on wheels behind him.
I realised then that racism was alive and well
There will never, ever be "racial equality" or equal rights as long as there is a spot on a government form (besides an ID card or medical history) for the race of the person filling it out.
The main reason, or trigger if you will, that Hillsdale College opted out of ALL federal money is because they refused to catalog their students according to race.

This. I'm racist because I don't agree with our president. I'm racist because I think it's racist to have black only colleges. I'm racist because I don't believe that anyone can tell me before they were born they chose to be [insert color here].
Apparently I'm just racist because I'm white. Has nothing to do with the fact that I am not, have never been and don't believe that color has anything to do with who the person is.
Personally, I'm sick and tired of this bs. Al Sharpton/Jesse JAckson and the rest of their anti-white foaming at the mouth hate breeding morons should all die in a fire with the KKK, NBP and the rest of them.
"Welcome to America - The melting pot of -ism"
Put whatever word you wise in front of ism . . . Wherever we don't "fit" in and someone goes out of their way to make sure you either know you don't fit in blocks access is some sort of discrimination.
I've been on both sides of the coin.
Or . . .
Or . . .
Or . . .
A major part of the problem is most people equate discrimination with race. True, they often travel in the same car, but they can be and are most of the time mutually exclusive.
Point . . .
And . . .
Sounds more like systemic problem, eh? Cause and effect . . . effect and cause
What would happen if there the mob was mixed with many different races attacked people . . . the news reporter wouldn't have much to report on . . . The report would have to go like . . .
"A mob of "insert probable age bracket" attacked a large number of citizens"
But then . . . wouldn't the reporter just technically labelled them as teens, creating an attachment that this group (teens) are violent? Why not say a group of individuals attacked the citizens of the town . . . Meh not so news worthy, eh? But it does not villianize a race or support baiting for racial disruption.
Some of the absolute worst racists that I have ever met were minorities themselves. Just about everytime I have seen anyone throw out the racist card they themselves are showing their own racist tendencies. Kinda like someone saying that just because I don't agree with the president on something I must be white and racist, not the fact I think something is completely idiotic and will only hurt people that are already struggling. Or saying I must be white and racist because I think that a system of giving people special treatment based on the color of their skin is idiotic when if (as others have mentioned) the same groups were formed or the same "special" considerations were asked for by a "white"person they would be run out of town and called racist. I must be white and racist if I do not associate myself with a particular minority group and I am still proud of my heritage. I must be white and racist if I think that people should just drop all of this crap, no one get special consideration for anything and for people to actually earn their place in society instead expecting things to be handed to them based on the color of their skin or who did what to who in the past.
I am going to go work on my car now.

I'm middle class, but that's about all you know about me. I was the victim of racism for most of the first 25 years of my life, at the same time (on a few occasions) being persecuted for my different faith. So yes I do know what it's like to be on the other side of the coin. But unlike the Jackon/Sharpton followers I didn't like the lot in life I was born into and changed things.
I love how some people say "You don't agree with me, then you must be a racist" and crap like that. I don't agree with BET, NAACP or that trash because it's not about equality. When is the last time the NAACP helped anyone with a skin color other than black? I dare you or any others here to do a googlenews search for hate crimes and see what the ratio of white-on-black are to EVERY OTHER combination combined. When, growing up, we'd file a police report because we were the targets of racial intimidation, attacks, robberies etc. there was never anything done. I guarantee you that if I were black and living in a white area and 1/2 of those things happened I'd have national news coverage.
Is BET something other than Black Entertainment Television? They show some pretty good movies sometimes. If they have something decent on I'll watch the woman channel and the gay channel too. I don't discriminate in my TV viewing.

Repeated for truth.

You do have a point. Technically, every person is SOME color!
I love when people try to prove their not racist whether they are or not. It usually involves a story about a "black guy" who is their friend, or I once knew this "black guy.", best is I worked with a "black guy" as if a flaming racist can choose where they work, but the best I ever heard was I lived next door to a "black guy". In the future It will be I was once a member of this internet forum and there was a "black guy" who was a member and he was cool. I just always find this funny.

it's even better when they go. "this guy who happens to be black"

Perfect!
There is nothing more anyone can contribute, this thread should be locked now.
wasn't meant to be offensive, i've just had that line in my head since the g/f is obsessed with "my big fat gypsy wedding" where they are always talking about being persecuted by the rest of british culture for as far as i can tell amounts to a male chauvenistic a-hole culture.
i apologise in advance to any gypsies/travelers on the board

I do know that I've heard "I can't disagree with the president without being called racist" than I've EVAR heard people calling other people that disagree with the president racist.

I was called racist in an Autozone when someone overheard me telling my friend that i didn't vote for Obama.
Interesting that they never bothered to ask if i voted at all.
In reply to mad_machine:
my new neighbor next door just put foil in his east facing windows. this guy happens to be black, i suppose that means that i happen to be racist because i think it looks like E36 M3. he also happens to be a firefighter, i guess that must also mean that i hate firefighters, too...
