I have a standing offer of $50 for a CD-quality copy of the first RATM album with no vocals. I'd probably even go $100 at this point.
My son's band played a lot of rage instrumental, and it was killer.

Who can explain something like that? I know some people like him, but practically any guitarist could play in that band, so it's kind of a waste of talent, like Steve Morse playing in Kansas.

He doesn't Lesley----- he's one of America's best living (or dead) songwriters. There are a lot of folks that just know him as the "Born in the U.S.A." guy though. I have to admit---if that was his only song, I wouldn't be a fan either. His music catalog is deep and varied--- those that are willing to dig--- will find some amazing music, and songwriting.
I've always wanted to see him and the E-Street band live--- as their shows are legendary. It's a shame I didn't get a chance before the "big man" passed away.
haters gonna hate and all that.....
He certainly is a talented songwriter.
On Springsteen:
I am not a big fan of the music per say, HOWEVER, the guy busts his butt on stage and is a legendary performer. A while back on VH1 Classic, they had the late 70's No Nukes concert movie on. The Boss played for about 3 hours until he collapsed from exhaustion on stage. IIRC, they propped him up, gave him some water, and he was back in it! Wow.
And Max Weinberg.

Because New Jersey. All the smart non-sucky Jersians leave.
No---Springstein does not suck:

For those who say politics don't belong in music, you must hate music from the 60s.

Dude, I SOOO do. I LOVE the tunes, but I can't stand the hippiness.
I always tell people, I am not a hippie, but I eat like one and listen to their music.

Why yes.... yes I do. I also don't like the Beatles. At all. REally dislike Elvis.
That said, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate what they both did for the music industry and their talents. I just don't like listening to it.

Come on, early folksy Elvis was pretty darn good listening.

I like Elvis ok … don't really care if I ever hear another Beatles song … but in my mind the Beatles aren't 60's rock-n-roll … and yes I realize they came along before the 60's were over … but there was a heck of a lot of great music in that decade that wasn't political at all
I almost compared Springsteen to the Beatles earlier, being great songwriters who' s music is almost always better when done by someone else.
Springsteen is the old new Dylan.
I never knew Blinded by the Light was a Springsteen song.
Springsteen can't sing worth a damn.
Neither can Neil Young or Bob Dylan but they write good songs.
Maybe I don't get it because I've never lost my job at the auto plant or the steel mill.

For once I can agree with Bob. I never cared for Springsteen's moaning and groaning.

I didn't say that politics don't belong in music. I just don't like the politics of simplistic leftist rebels without a clue.

I've seen him four times – puts everything he's got into his live shows.

Little hint: Its really fun to talk to big time beatles fans about how the guy who's done the best work since the breakup of the band is Ringo. Spend 5 minutes defending your choices while heads explode all around you.
Also fun to dis Paul's post Beatles junk.
The Beatles were just the first "boy band".
Argue all you want, you know it's true.
I dunno, I read the whole article and it seems like the band's rebuttal was quite likely. Quite, quite likely. You think a door man at some E36 M3ty snooty restaurant with a line to get in would never cop an attitude at a famous guy because he thought he could get away with it? At this point it's he said vs he said and I'm willing to give the guy with more to lose the benefit of the doubt.
On the politics in music, why the heck not? I can respect someone "putting it on the line," so to speak. And they're as qualified as anyone to talk about it. Because they're good at music, for some reason you think they're not smart and capable of critical thought? Seems counter intuitive to me - brilliant people tend to be brilliant in more than one area. I haven't met a true savant yet. I'll listen to the guitarist in Rage Against the Machine way before I'll listen to some self important douchebag like Limbaugh, Hannity, Bow Tie Guy, Whatzisface, and all the other gas bags we're "supposed" to listen to. At least he's done something enjoyable and worthwhile in life.
Why should I discount what someone says because I like their work? Seems like crazy opposite speak to me.
