Any of you hippie liberals heading to DC this weekend?

The funny thing is that conservatives are trying to do the same sort of thing with the Tea Party. I don't think anybody is satisfied. Under normal circumstances, that might mean that things are fairly balanced, but in this case I think it just means that the wheels are in danger of falling off.
Too bad their version of sanity is pretty much just the Democratic party platform, from what I can tell.

they have committed to having porta-potties, and they have no other agenda. It's just kind of a party in DC for people who watch the show.
Sounds like fun.

Actually it is what it is advertised as. A rally for people who don't think the world is coming to an end. Even-keeled people who are sick of all the extreme nut jobs overwhelming the media with their far right/left antics and screaming.
I just got off the phone and found that a mutual friend is actually attending. Two retirees from Ohio driving out for the fun of it all. They have the time and the means, I think it is great.
They also own a '91 Miata (since new) and a Norton Commando 850 Interstate (since new.) Good people. Current daily driver is a Ford Transit Connect Wagon, needless to say, they can be a bit different.

That's my problem. What a great chance to meet like minded people and show the family a little American history. Sucks being broke...

I'm 3 hours away and I'd go, but I haven't had a weekend home in 5 weeks........the house and yard really needs some attention before the weather gets too rough. My daughter may go and my niece and her boyfriiend are going.

So talking rationally without yelling about "DEEEAAAATTHHH PANELS!!!??!!! KEEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY MEDICAID".... Is a democratic party platform?
I'd go if I was closer. I think Stewart and Colbert are both hilarious, politics be damned.
And I've heard both of them skewer both sides.

No one with a brain would deny they have pounced on "both sides". There are plenty of skewer-worthy opportunities from both sides. It's the disparate amount of time spent ripping one more than the other.
Stewart and Colbert may be guilty of supporting ideology OR guilty of pandering to their audience. Either way, they have lowered themselves to the same level as those they love to chastise. I love the irony.
But, they are funny.
They're all idiots. All of "them".
OTOH: I know someone running in the Marine Corp Marathon today, for a cause. Hope he makes it.
This reminds me of how well he skewered the guys on Crossfire back in 2004. He points out that his job is not to be a news source. He hosts a comedy show that comes on after puppets making crank calls (at least back then):

You see the President on Stewart's show on Wednesday? Didn't look like a comedy news show to me.
I really REALLY wanted to go, but a friend is moving to Florida (why is beyond me), but today is his last day in town, so we're hanging out. Should be a really fun time for anyone there...Lewis Black will probably show up, that would be worth the price of the trip!

Seriously dude. Wake up.

i love how people who watch either of those shows make themselves out to be so erudite compared to the watchers of Orielly, or Hannity, or Beck.
Lord help you if you point out they're all the same thing: entertainers.

and if you think any of that 'talking rationally' stuff is going on in their majority, whelp, good for you.
