Because it's...the most...wonderful time...of the year.
I'll start with my porch:
My wife's creativity from 2011.
The little dog dressed as Little Red Ridinghood.
The big dog dressed as The Big Bad Wolf in Grandma's clothing.
I'll have to take a picture later. Since I do one of those crazy mega Christmas displays outside, it's easy for me to transition that into Halloween (I can use the same electronics hardware). I've got Halloween color lights dancing to Halloween music, along with other decorations, outside. Next year I will add a few fog machines and put them behind the tombstones I have set up.
No pictures, but SWMBO and I just went to The Atlanta Center for the Puppetry Arts' halloween show The Ghastly Dreadfuls this past weekend. Awesome vaudeville style show with live music, some sing-alongs, and (yes) puppetry. If you're in Atlanta and you can get tickets, it's a LOT of fun.
And puppetry arts sounds lame until you see what's in their collection...
Went to the Louisville Pumpkin Walk last night with the entire herd. A stroll through a park at night while appreciating 5,000 Jack-O-Lanterns should have been very nice and relaxing. Except for the 10,000 humans on the path and keeping tabs on the 9 people in my group (three aged 4,5, and 5).
The wife lent out our decorations for a friends party weeks ago but she hasn't brought them back. So haven't even decorated yet. Less work for me I guess...
Some friends are throwing a party on the 29th. They are big in to Cosplay/Comic-con, so we gotta step up our costume game for this party. I'm piecing together and customizing the last bits of my Jaime Lannister costume this week. Wife is going as Khaleesi. Can't wait to bang the Mother of Dragons
we put these together for this year's festivities

Yeah....uh you see the guns on duct tape? Stop looking at her.
(On another note the best fight I witnessed at a party in the early 1980's started with a guy asking another guy if he was "looking at his girlfriend." Next thing we were all outside watching a sweet fist fight)
The best pumpkin I ever carved
I went nuts that year and carved a dozen awesome Jack-o-lanterns, Filled a bowl with full size candy bars, Lit a pathway from my open gate to my well lit door with a light shining on the huge bowl of candy like a beacon and only got 2 teenagers who just asked for beer. It kinda ruined Halloween for me and I haven't done anything since.
This is my favorite holiday, I wish all the xmas crap would wait until November to get started though.
I've been out of Halloween a while, after helping a male friend make a Miley Cyrus costume (don't ask to see pics, no one should ever have to see that), I needed a break.
This is the last year I'm going as the invisible man(skip everyone's party and say I was there) though, as I think the little one will be ready Next year to start trick or treating and dressing up. That's not to say she isn't going trick or treating this year, but I don't expect to get past the first house when it comes to fighting her with candy, and I really don't expect her to leave her costume on.
I am excited for future Halloweens though, it is when I really shine. And now I have an excuse to get elaborate with decorations and stuff.
I need to learn these "new" pumpkin carving methods. Until very recently, I'd only known massive cuts, all this shading and trimming, while elaborate and easy to mess up, looks amazing.
Patsy and I were searching for some brave knights to join our oval table, and nicer cup to drink from. Stumbled into a Halloween party, and wound up winning a 1st place trophy and bucket full of goodies.
Last night I saw some amazing costumes at a "dead rock stars" party/show at the bar. The highlights were an excellent Klaus Nomi, a Wendy O Williams and a few very well done Amy Winehouse's but the standouts were a spot on Andy Samberg from Brooklyn 99 and the most perfect black and white Gene Wilder from young Frankenstein. I really wish I could have gotten a picture. The grey scaling was on point.

On second thought, let's NOT go to Camelot. It IS a silly place.
I just got trick or treaters. The kids were stoked I had lollies, apparently I'm one of the few people in the street that even came to the door. Aussies aren't big on Halloween, but I'm all for throwing some treats the way of the few kids that get into it. I had wizz fizz Wich apparently made me the world's coolest person.
The Little ghoul's had put plenty of effort into their costumes... Or at least mums and dads did. There were vampires, witches, a pirate a zombie and some fairies. I may even decorate a bit next year if I get a couple more tonight. It'll probably upset some of the neighbours, but whatever, its all in the name of fun.
Tonight I will be wearing a full race suit, helmet, shoes and gloves to pass out treats. They see my cars in the driveway, they will get it. (And supposed to be decent temps for the suit, thankfully.)
My wife is a Dietitian, so I expect that we'll be the least popular house on the block. We're handing out cheap toys instead of candy.

I hope we don't get egged or TP'd.
Patsy and I work in the same building, so we were able to get some more mileage out of our outfits today.
I'm not willing to dress up, but we did do some work to the house for the neighborhood kids.
A little plastic, some cheese cloth, a projector, and a couple of lights.
