As some know from the weekly video chats, I've been out of work since the end of April. Travel nurse positions have been impossible to find given for every posted position, there are 200 applicants plus. Finally, after applying to the whole country, finally an offer from Phoenix. Long ways from eastern TN, but in this job market, beggars can't be choosers.

That being said, smwbo and eldest daughter have it. Mild symptoms, but plenty stir crazy from being isolated. I've thoroughly enjoyed the pos couch we have every night for the past 8 days....

I think the folly of the current response will become evident with time.

Given what is happening in other countries around the world, the folly is evident right now.

Sweden hasn't fared much better.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/07/business/sweden-economy-coronavirus.html

"Per million people, Sweden has suffered 40 percent more deaths than the United States, 12 times more than Norway, seven times more than Finland and six times more than Denmark."

My wife's co-worker just took a job as a surgical nurse in Texas.  $10K/week plus room and board.

Granted, given the state of infection in certain parts of the country, these sorts of jobs tend to end up being "blood money"

That said, there's a surgical nurse position open at The Vancouver Clinic in Vancouver, WA which is a pretty nice area of the country to live in.

Plus other RN positions:

I hope this helps!

I felt bad enough that I needed to go get tested.  That itself was a cluster-berkeley.

I woke up two Mondays back feeling like crap and coughing.  Called into work and started looking up testing sites.   By 8:30 the four places I went to had reached capacity and wouldn't test me
Woke up the next day, still coughing, and got out of the house and at the testing site by 7:15.  They were at capacity and weren't even open yet.   Got to talking and apparently the people up front that had gotten there at 2AM were going to get in and out fairly quickly. The guy in front of me, who was the last guy that was going to get tested, got there at 5:15ish and was going to be tested by 3PM.
So, I left.
Knew everyone else I had tried to see Monday was going to be as packed, so I pulled a Hail Mary and went to the VA.

One guy in front of me. Took me a half hour from the time I got there to the time I left.
One time I'm gonna say it, gods bless the VA.

That nasal swab sucks ass, though.  Unpleasant is where you start describing it.

I wish y'all the best.  Having gotten the flu right at the beginning the process sucked for just figuring out how to get tested.  Hope everyone gets better.

In reply to Mr_Asa :

I'm assuming the test came back negative? Did you go the the main clinic on Lake Terrace? I Live about a mile from the satellite clinic in Riverview but I don't know if they do walk in testing.

Lots of people in my duty section have been quarantined. A handful have tested positive. We are all packed in a huge room with open work spaces. It's getting berkeleying scary.

Hope you feel better!

Everybody seems to be fine.

I'm pretty sure I caught it just as allergy season for me started. Allergy season maybe lasts a day or three maybe a week at most. It lasted 27 days this year....
