Wish I had one of those this morning!
If your WiFi is decent, smart tvs and the spectrum app would make your life alot easier. The only cable I use is the one going to the modem.
Man, I wish I had one too. We had cable going to every single room in the house, all off of one cable inside the house. 9 or 10 of them. Since I use the cheapest internet plan, it caused very slow speeds. And it was pointless - we run everything off of wifi, and don't even have cable tv.
Now we have one single live cable, running our wifi. Everything runs from that. But it was a PITA figuring out which was which, as there had been multiple splitters at random points.
Following Stampie's wisdom and what I learned from the two minute YouTube video, I went out there this morning, removed the lines one at a time, grounded them and then checked for continuity at each outlet inside (and one outside) until I figured out where each line went and then labeled each one. Then I separated out the four lines that I don't need, ditched the four port splitter and hooked the rest back up to six ports on the eight.

After:
Much neater, and the problem seems to be resolved.
Total cost: $Zero.
Big thanks to Stampie. I probably wouldn't have done this without your guidance!
Okay...question for Stampie:
The original eight port splitter had an unused port with a little metal plug in it. I removed it for wrench clearance and noted a small piece of wire inside which, I think, would ground the port.
In the new configuration, I have two unused ports. I used the old plug in one, and just pushed a plastic plug into the other to keep water out. Do I need a grounded metal plug in there? If so, what are these things called and where do I get one?

Sorry I was driving then drinking with family most of yesterday. Yes those are terminators and are 75 ohm. Should have them by the book but really not necessary. Glad you got it fixed. Let me know and I'll send you a PPC amp for your next upgrade. The great thing about the PPC amps is they amp the outgoing signal also.
My terminators have arrived and I replaced the plastic cap on the unused port out in the box.
So...now that I know that these things exist, and that they complete a circuit, and that I now have nine extras...that begs the question:
Is there any benefit to installing these on the two (presently) unused cable outlets inside the house?
