I may need to pick up a lapel microphone and speaker for the my wedding ceremony for our officiant to use. Nothing fancy or expensive. It will only be used for this, but it is kind of important that it works
Thanks!

Hmmm. Are you the only one wearing a mic? Do you need an amp and PA speaker? How big is the space?
If you can stand a wired mic, you could just plug into a guitar amp and be done.
For corporate stuff we had decent luck with audio technica lavalier mics. The directional mics are better for voice than omni-directional - they tend to pick up too much ambient noise or the folks making snarky comments off to the side.
Depending on the venue, would a personal mic/PA work? I picked up a 2-pack made by QFX on eBay a couple months ago for $30. It has decent enough output for costuming purposes.

I would spend the money on renting the gear. You will get better gear for the same money and have them set it up

This.
I work in A/V. Google up some local A/V rental houses. Tell them you want "sound on a stick", a wireless lav, and a small mixer for a day.
Most rental houses do this all day long. Some of them will give you a quick setup lesson with the rental, which is a lot cheaper than hiring a guy to deliver, set up, and operate. I bet you can get a day's rental for $150, maybe even $100.
edit: this will sound a TON better than anything you can buy for $100.
For my wedding, I went to a local music store and was able to rent one. Many rent all kinds of DJ and musical equipment. Cost me about $30 for the weekend IIRC and was WAY nicer than I could have bought.
I'll jump on the "rent it from a professional" bandwagon. Makes more sense than buying something you are likely to use once, and the results are much more likely to be satisfactory.
