I'm thinking about getting my first red dot sight for use on a Ruger Mark II. I've never used a red dot before. Any suggestions as to what to look for?

I guess it depends on what color shoes you are wearing. Will your fashionable red dot clash with your shoes or hand bag?
I have a cheap tasco red dot sight. Its okay, nothing major, no optical zoom either. I put it on a beretta u22 Neos but was a little ungainly. Now the cheap Chinese made "halo" sight that I got my dad for his SKS was not only cheap but has held up being on a semi-auto and its the cat's ass. (It too has no optical zoom either)
Yeah, I put a bariska red dot sight on one of my beef guns. That was fun. I didn't so much like on my 1022. My friend had one on his mark 3 and loved it. No magnification means you can keep both eyes open and it's like a laser sight.

I bought a super cheap one, like in the $15-$20 range. Might be a Bariska, I forget. I put it on my 1022 just for fun. It's OK, but the paralax is quite noticeable. The good ones are holographic and unaffected by where you put your head. If I was using it for serious stuff, I'd get a good one.

Great. Now i want a beef gun. Thanks.
First question...
Pimpish, where was your head to make you supplant "Beef" with "Nerf"
Second question:
Is a beef gun a gun made of beef or shoots beef projectiles? And if it shoots beef, would I be arrested for using pork projectiles?

Only if you shoot them at Muslims

how about a bacon gun?
When I meant to type "nerf" I must have mistyped. The iPhone automatically put in what it though you meant, and it must have thought I meant beef.

It doesn't really matter what you use on a .22 plinking pistol; you don't need to deal with recoil or need a weatherproof sight. FYI not all red dot sights will let you shoot two eyes open.

Do you really wanna know? I mean if you have a beef with the neighbor it's a great way to solve it. ALA office disputes have you ever seen the one's modded with AR springs? the range is insane.
How bout a 500 dart per minute nerf gun? the end of all office disputes
I have an Aimpoint on one AR-15 and a Trijicon on the other.
They both have their ups and downs. I find myself grabbing the gun with the Aimpoint on it the most, but its also the one I have a .22 conversion for, so it sees a little more range time. When buying optics, buy real, not knockoffs. There is a huge difference, and there are a lot of knockoffs on the market. A great place to read up on them is the optics section on www.ar15.com
