My kid loves his vintage Hotwheels City. Its perfect. Except for the bleached out, sun faded stickers. I purchased an excellent replacement sticker sheet, but now need to get the old stickers off.
What's the best way? This is 45 year old plastic so some chemicals might not play nice. Any suggestions?
I would start with the most simple option. Put the parts in the kitchen sink and fill with hot water. Wait a while and see if they will come off. Even if only the paper comes off, exposing the old glue. At least you will be half way there.

I agree with Purple Frog. I save plastic jars such as peanut butter and mayonnaise jars to put screws in and need to get the labels and glue off. I soak them in hot water and dish soap to get off most of the paper. Then I start from mildest to strongest; alcohol, WD40, and usually eventually paint thinner/mineral spirits which always works.
WD40 is a good solvent for glue and typically pretty mild. Try it on the bottom out of sight to be sure.
I bet a little hand held laundry steamer like I use on window tint would work well.
The plastic is likely ABS. As such, avoid acetone, M.E.K. and such.
Alcohol will likely work, mineral spirits also might do the trick. Test either on a hidden spot, put a drop on the plastic, wait 20-30 minutes and see if the plastic at the drop is soft. If soft rinse off and let that spot dry out. If not soft, apply just enough on the stickers to saturate them, then wipe off.
I would be wary of any heat as that could easily warp the plastic

I bet your kid loves that! It's awesome. When he outgrows it, auction it off on Bring A Trailer to pay for college!
For the stickers, another option might be to just put the new ones right over the old ones?
i have that one from when i was a kid, super cool. Used to try to find the fastest car to go down the whole thing. I think mine had a car wash in it though where you cranked the car through the foam rollers

They are usually around $50 or less on Marketplace. Buy back your childhood. Its worth it.
