My 2-year old Toshiba TDDP5013ES2 died. Freezes and won't defrost. Googled and found these live about 1.5 years and all fail the same way... and a one year warranty.

What's a reliable brand for a basement dehumidifier?

Costco seems like a good source..  for their return policy.

Second this. Surprising how much a dehumidifier costs to run-- at least this way you get hot water out of it.

Seems like the vast majority of reasonably priced dehumidifiers are made out of chinesium, all by the same company, and last 3 days past the year warranty.  I've been buying big box home improvement store dehumidifiers for years, and the past 5 years I've been replacing them every year.  The things run at least half time during the late spring/summer/early fall, so they do get used a lot.

I suggest finding one with a 3 year warranty or buying an extended warranty.

Amazon says I bought this in May 2020. Been running fine ever since.
