I'm trying to remember the name of a restaurant in the village. As I recall, it's on an east-west street (not an avenue). It had a sorta basement, lots of brick, and they had this killer roasted tomato and onion soup. A bit upscale but not snooty.
In other news, I'm recommending some restaurants and things in NYC for a buddy who is going up for the weekend. He's staying with friends in Queens and seeing some shows downtown. He wants to hit some iconic places in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and he wants a good brunch spot for Sunday. I recommended Trattoria Del Arte on 7th and trying to think of the name of the place with the tomato soup.
I'm pretty good with the island up as far as Yonkers, but I don't know much about Brooklyn or Queens.
