I just got a email about Richard Rawlings' Book Available Now! GYSOT!, I read the synopsis, not sure I understand why he has a book. I do enjoy the show, because it is one of the few that shows a little more car stuff then the usual reality TV or whatever genre this would fit into.
He's obnoxious as hell and all he sees is dollar signs, he'd try to sell his own E36 M3 if he could.
I like the show too, but all the parts that don't involve him.
I just read through the Amazon preview. It is just recaps of the episodes. Meh.
I'm amazed the man can read, let alone write.
Oh boy....Doesn't the book deal usually mark the beginning of the end? At least I hope so. I have to laugh at some of the dollar amounts they show at the end of the show. I often wonder how much of those builds are actually real builds and how many are just fake builds that they fund through the show.
Most all of the stuff they sell to the public that I've ever seen is just run of the mill car flipper stuff. Find it wash it tune it up and sell it. It seems when they do a build it's sold for well under what they think it will unless there is a corp. or one of the show's characters buying it.

No idea who Richard Rawlings is or what GYSOT! means. Sounds like I might as well keep it that way, based on some of the comments.
I can't wait to not read that...

Where is that Orson Welles clapping gif when you need it!
To bad. I thought it might be about his experiences in the Cannonball Run (I guess he held the record with another guy for a while).
In reply to aircooled:
Read The Driver instead. Richard is mentioned in the book a few times. Then watch 32 hours 7 Minutes (documentary of Trans-America run that the book is about). Richard and his buddy are in that also.
Get ya some of this...............GYSOT!!.....i think
he plays a larger than life character and makes money off it... i respect that, even if i don't like the character he plays..
that big tank of a Caprice that they built for that one rally race is owned by a guy that owns a junkyard about 15 miles from here. it's my favorite junkyard for the last 25 years or so. it's the guy that they bought the 69 Boss 429 Mustang from that they fixed up on the show and sold at auction about a year ago.. that's also the guy that i got my Nova from way back in 1999.. so i've bought a car from someone that is buddies with a guy on tv..

I believe it is : Get you some of that! But close enough. I won't be reading the book either.
Sounds like he is involved with a reality TV show about cars. No wonder I have never heard of him.
The best thing about this book is that no one will have to hear him make that Peter Brady voice change episode "WOO!!!!" that he is constantly shouting.
At about the ten thousandth wipe-the-hair-back-pistol-point-the-fingers-WOOOO! I shut him off. Actually, I'll like the Misfits better. And, yeah, I know that Rawlins is a producer on that show.
I think you guys are confusing a reality show with...well reality. Richard wanted to be on TV and pitched a main character and a plot and a cast of supporting characters and got a show. He freely admits that he knows it is a TV show, he treats it like a TV show, and acts as if he is on camera and trying to get ratings. It's as close to actual reality as the Brady Bunch was. Richard is funding his lifestyle through cars, not working in a cubicle farm, and I think we can all respect that a little.
The business model seems to be working.
I like that he does not treat the tv show as serious. I actually chuckled when he was out looking for bottles in the desert. For the tequila.
It is goofy. He knows it is goofy. We know it is goofy and there are cars mixed in. Works for me.

I too get tired of the hair thing and the woo and finger pointing.

you've heard of him- or at least googled him at some point... but you have to pretend that you haven't heard of him because it's not cool to know about popular stuff.. but that's ok..
I gotta axmit that I do like the show. Sure its dumb and richard can be annoying but its a fun way to watch something with cars in it.and shut my brain off for an hour.
Are we talking about the gashole from fastndumb?
Wow, I didn't think he could read, let alone write.
