I'd like to see more of this. Here in horse country people go to "The Races" to socialize and gamble. Dog tracks around the country are closing due to humanitarian and social pressures.

I'd rather go to the people races than a boxing match or a hockey/football/basketball game.

I propose we rename "track and field" to "people races".

Latest development, Bernie Ecclestone's mother-in-law kidnapped and held for $36.5m ransom:

I don't feel bad for Ecclestone but I do feel bad for his innocent MIL.

Expecting people to pay ransom to get their mother in law BACK.... I think the kidnappers are single.

Jokes aside, he either loses $36.5m to get his MIL back (LOL) or he loses $1.5B in a divorce...so it's an easy choice to take the cheaper and more humiliating option.

Also, Olympic badminton, and table tennis. Brilliant events.

Are you saying Bernie Ecclestone's wife would have a problem with her husband making morally dubious choices for profit?

I would never insinuate such a thing.

Since the Brazilians are probably useless, Ecclestone should just hire the Mossad.....

Really been enjoying this Olympics... that said, I stand by my longstanding opinion that Bob Costas is an annoying Bob Costas.

The two Simones, though--wow.

Great moments in these Olympics. I really have enjoyed watching Katie Ledecky crush it, along with the other women on the US swim team.

(9yo Ledecky meets Phelps)

Gotta agree with Mapper - Mo Farah was very impressive.

I was happy to see Rugby 7s included in the Olympics this year. That was a fun three days and my coworkers thought I was losing my mind in the office, so bonus.

That was a great race, too- with all the talk how other teams schemed how to be Mo, and he was knocked down (by his friend and training partner), and STILL won very convincingly.

That was a cringe moment but looking at the slow mo it was just a "racing incident". Now it's time for Galen Rupp to win the marathon (fingers crossed).

He claims it's his last Olympics, but if Gatlin can get silver at 34, I bet Bolt could still earn another gold in 2020. It's just impressive to see how he doesn't start leaving the others until the 50 and how they said it's not that he's acceleration, it's just that he continues to maintain speed.

Bronze medal in the women's heptathalon for a Saskatchewan girl. I'm always intrigued by the multi-discipline events. There has to be a real art to training for so many different things, and there is bound to be something that improves one event, but compromises another- I can't imagine the same things that make you great at the shot put would help you in the 800 meter race...other than a fabulous fitness level.
