Sorry for your loss, Toyman. Every time one of these threads comes up, I pick my cat up and give him an extra hug... Pisses the cat off, but the time that we are allowed to share a pet's life is too damn short, for the love they give us.

Thanks for the thoughts guys and gals. It's been a little hard on all of us.

Dusty was only with us for 15 months, but what a great little dog. We adopted him from a rescue. He was 13 years old. Cheerful and happy, till the very end. Loved being petted, walked and going for rides.

We took him to the vet because he started falling down last week. After a camping trip this weekend, he crashed pretty hard. Today he couldn't get up to go outside and was whining in pain. Fast growth cancer was causing nerve problems in his back legs. No cure that would last longer than a couple of months and he was in pain. Seeing him suffer would be unbearable.

We will truly miss him.

Losing my best friendof 12 years , Sam, a black lab,was the worst pain I ever experienced. I still miss her almost every day. Got her for my 8th birthday as a puppy and she became the best dog ever.

Glad you adopted him though, at least you know he died in a loving home.
