Heard on the radio that his neighbour said he left behind 5 un-published novels. Wonder what will hapen to those if it is true?

They'll be published, if that's the case. Even if they're unfinished (that'll be handled by people who just "know" how the author planned to handle it) or even if they're unpublished because the author knew they were inferior to his or her other works. The practice of posthumously publishing has been applied to many, many authors; few have seen their legacies benefit as a result, but man, people buy the crap.

Oddly, Catcher in the Rye was one of the books I was not required to read in high school. I quess it was banned in Orangeburg High School.
I think I shall check it out of the library and read it.
I would doubt his unfinished books are inferior... Sallinger withdrew from society AND media years ago to become a recluse. as he once said, he wrote for himself and nobody else. I am pretty sure his unpublished books are pretty good.. I look forwards to reading them

That was actually quite nicely done.
The book has had a huge influence on me, but the author was an extra large double order of fruitcake.
The rumor of unpublished manuscripts has been around for decades. His heirs will now decide if they should honor his wishes or cash-in. I think we know what Holden would do....
I've never read Catcher in the Rye either, but I guess I'll have to put a lil' money in his estate now.

Me neither. I guess I will have to now to see what the hype is about.
This is bringing back bad memories of reading "Catcher In The Rye" back in high school. I HATE that book! The main character, Holden, was emo before emo got packaged and sold at Hot Topic.

I just hope they don't have Geraldo search through his closet to find them.

Don't bother; it's not even worth taking out of the library. A couple hundred pages of teenage rebel-without-a-clue whining about everything. I was 16 or 17 when I first read it and thought it sucked then. It's only gotten stupider as I've gotten older.
