One of my very favorites, a New Orleans legend whose music went far beyond the Crescent city. Rest In Peace Dr John.

Never saw him play, but I liked him and his music.  Between he and Leon Redbone, offbeat music has lost a couple greats lately.

The world is a little less funky today. This is actually my favorite song of his: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHwkET7N864

He really flowed out into all kinds of amazing places. The theme song to your kid's favorite show "Curious George" was done by him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP55MCelmTM

Dr. Teeth of the Muppets looks familiar for a reason, he's based on Dr. John:
