Never saw him play, but did enjoy his acting on Little House On The Prairie when I was a tyke. Seemed like an awfully nice guy.

I did see him play and he was great as part of one of the best defensive lines ever. His steady play and his ability to level blockers allowed his teammates to take bigger risks because they knew he would erase any of their mistakes. Unfortunately, those Rams teams had their troubles on the other side of the ball so they weren't very good until he neared the end of his career.
Deacon Jones cannot bring himself to comment because of his grief. Deacon Jones at a loss for words? That should tell you something right there.
Frankly, I would like to know more about the lawsuit he brought last December against NBC and others for exposing him to asbestos purportedly and causing his mesothelioma. The press has been relatively silent on the subject other than mentioning the action taken.
