Oscar Mayer has died. The retired chairman of the famous Madison hot dog and lunch meat company passed away this week in Fitchburg at a hospice care unit. He was 95.
He was the third Oscar Mayer in a family which founded the company that bore his name.
His father, Oscar G. Mayer Sr., died in 1965.
And his grandfather, Oscar F. Mayer, passed away in 1955.
Mayer retired as the company’s board chairman in 1977 when he was 62.
The firm had just recorded its first year with $1 billion in sales.
Oscar Mayer was later sold to General Foods, and is now a part of Philip Morris.

lots of people dying lately.
He really had a way with B O L O G N A.
I actually got to drive the Wienermobile back in 1971. It had thrown a belt en route to a gig, and pulled into the service station where I worked at the time to have it replaced. I only drove it across the parking lot, but it was a rush! Then I got to replace the belt.
It's a dream of mine to one day drive the Wienermobile. I have sent them some resumes but they won't return my calls.
Every time I ever saw the Weinermobile, it was being piloted by hot chicks.
However, a weinermobile lurks among us:

RIP, Oscar.
Conan O'Brien said it was an open-bun funeral.
They're dropping like flies!
Happier times:
Eric (my youngest), my late best friend Honey, and the stuff of dreams ...
His weiners were delicious... Wait that came out wrong...
It gives me great hope when I see that the chairman of a company that sells processed pork lives to be 95.

Heard that joke in the barber shop yesterday when I was getting my hair cut. It started with "On the news they said they finally confirmed what killed Michael Jackson, it was food poisoning..."
At first I thought Wally was full of bologna, but no matter how you slice it, that hot dog exec is dead meat.

Kinda strange that in this thread, nobody has mentioned how good Oscar's bacon is...
But I can sit in a Miata and ignore it while I finish my BLT.
So a cigarette company owns Oscar Meyer?
What do you think is worse for you, cigarettes, or hot dogs?

Depends if we're talking about "meat-ish foody product" hot dogs, or real brats.
I wouldn't want to bet on a run of the mill hawt dawg vs. ciggasmoke death match, that's for sure.

Yes there is!
It takes longer, though...........
They had his obituary in The Chicago Tribune today.

I always wonder if I should go to the wake just to see if there are cool mini wieners in the coffee "break" room.
