DETROIT - Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, died Thursday. He was 83.
Sales died at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx, New York, said his former manager and longtime friend, Dave Usher. Sales had many health problems and entered the hospice last week, Usher said.
At the peak of his fame in the 1950s and '60s, Sales was one of the best-known faces in the nation, Usher said.

Yeah, I liked Soupy, even though his humour was on the low side.
RIP, Souper Soupy.
"How come every time I write F you see K?"

I think in memorandium, you all should go into your parents wallet and take out a green piece of paper with a number one on it and send it to me!
I was a big fan of Soupy when I was a kid, and just this week was trying to recall the names of his dog and the other "creature" that he had on his show......I think it's name was Black Fang.
Watching the show as a kid, you could tell that every now and then the "co-stars" would pull tricks on Soupy, but the guy just seemed to think EVERYTHING was hilarious.
Thank you Soupy for some funny afternoons, and we know you are now in heaven throwing pies at Saint Peter.
