I don't know if I could live without direct sunlight for that long, but I guess you'd eventually adapt–and I'm sure the mirrors help, too.

I'd heard about that town and got the impression that the mirrors lit up a decent fraction of downtown, but now in the video I see that it's spot maybe the size of 6 parking spaces...
