So I just an announcement that roadkill will be doing a shootout with gas monkey garage. It took them a while to sell out but once they started they went all in.

I started watching this show because it was legit car dudes doing general hoonery. Not tv personalaties reciting scripts and fake drama, all brought to you by corporate sponsors

Have you seen the shootout episode yet? Do you have any details of what it will contain?

Maybe I'm missing something about how challenging another car show to a build-off is selling out?

In reply to EvanB:

I think maybe the association with Gas Monkey, along with Roadkill's recent addition of Chrysler as a sponsor is what he's talking about.

Isn't gas monkey also a dodge sponsorship or at least the guy is showing up in their TV ads.

Roadkill is sponsored by Dodge... Gas Monkey Garage is sponsored by Dodge...

Roadkill is a series sponsor of the 24 Hours Of Lemons...

i'm thinking they will challenge each other to build and race Dodges in a 24HOL race..

Roadkill will do whatever the corporate overlords say (Source Interlink/TEN/whatever name the bankruptcy judge calls them next). If they could sell ads against it they would put Freiburger in a dress and hand him over to RuPaul.

If you want something legit that Freiburger started, head over to BangShift.com. It may not say "Freiburger's Garage" anymore but you can be sure that Bryan and Chad are reporting back to David on a regular basis.

This, exactly. Gas Monkey is everything I hate about tv car shows. Scripted, fake drama, a cast that seems a lot more like a bunch of tv personalities than car guys. Roadkill started out as the opposite of the typical tv car show. Just a couple car dudes doing car dude stuff. Most of the stuff they put together was junk they had around, not "Hey look what Edelbrock just sent us!" (although that did exist) Then there was the street outlaws cameo, they rented themselves to subaru, then finally they sold themselves to Chrysler. Now they are doing an episode with these clowns, to me it feels like the only car show I enjoyed is circling the drain. How much longer until the whole show is Freiburger and Finnegan arguing and cars that they only have one week to get done before Sema?

At least I still have Full Custom Garage.

If you are good enough at something, eventually someone will throw a pile of money at you.

Then they will get really angry and finally separate. They will each have their own custom motorcycle shows....

Did someone say Bangshift?

http://bangshift.com/general-news/videos/roadkill-vs-gas-monkey-garage-yes-this-is-happening-and-richard-rawlings-profanely-says-so/

I'm pretty sure the rest of the Bangshift guys are firmly in the corner of Roadkill. I know I am.

In the end, it's entertainment either way, but I'm not a GMG fan at all. Their Trans Am episodes just made me angry.

*Shameless plug since I am writing for Bangshift now

Oooh, a Drag Racing Crossover episode. I like it. It could be a two parter with the conclusion involving RuPaul on Roadkill in Miatas

Roadkill is also planing a crossover with Mighty car mods from Australia. Might be some hope there.

I thought this was a three-way shoot out between RK, MCM, and GMG?

And also Richard Rawlings originally said no to Roadkill, so I don't think the sponsorship has anything to do with it becaus MCM isn't sponsored by Dodge.

Freiburger feels about Rawlings the same way many of us do. TV ready frontman who can't get his hands dirty. He's been goading him into this fight for awhile. I hope they do it right and on roadkill (cheap) terms.

Challenge accepted by both MCM and the poo slingers. As much as I like roadkill I hope MCM wipes the floor with both of them.

Depends on the challenge. In bare bones "this has one goal and it has to last 10 mintues" Roadkill might win. If there is any longevity required MCM will take it hands down. ALSO, it depends if MCM gets to bring Yota and Stig.

Who knows? It might be a good episode. Considering it hasn't been made yet I'm ok sitting back and waiting for the final product.

What exactly is a sellout? I'd like to see those guys get paid to make entertaining youtube vids. Does that make them a sellout? Now, I don't want every video they make to be about Dodge's latest project. I do like the idea of them having some extra cash to do more entertaining stuff.

See I was worried that they had been bought when the Subaru showed on their show but nothing else happened with it. Dodge can sponsor them. Im fine with that. They rarely have anything newer on the show so as long as the format stays the same. I think it will be fine. Also, GMG is like Orange County Choppers with cars. The guy with the beard isn't too bad. The owner is a Tool (capital T).

^This. Let's stop making profit a crime FFS. They have yet to produce an episode which I didn't find at least moderately entertaining. Until they do and the reason they do is because they gave in to a sponsor I'll be happy to keep enjoying their product.
