You may recall that during the epic GPS vs. Hornet thread we discussed bees, colony collapse disorder, and how that could be a major problem for agriculture since so many things are pollinated by bees. I just saw that the harvard robotics guys are trying to make robotic bees to pollinate our crops.

Anyway, discuss: should we rely on robots or try to have healthy bee colonies?
Recent rapid losses of bumblebees as well.
CCD is but one headache for beekeepers, there are plenty of others.

Yes. Harvesting pollen is the challenge.
Some crops and plants don't lend themselves well to airborne pollenation. Downward facing flowers for example.
