i finally got over my anger at rock auto from when they sent my parts to a wrong address then months later refunded my money less shipping(out $20+ for their screwup)

need a coil pack for the P71. autozone is $49, advance is $53, pull a part is $14-22 depending on whether the girl at the counter deems it as a small, medium, or large coil. plus tax and 'environmental fee' makes it $17-25. rock auto had it less the 5% discount for $28 shipped to me. just ordered one, hopefully it will be here soon.

I just ordered inner and outer tie rods, and 4 new brake rotors for the Escort from them. $107.76 shipped.

Their pricing has always baffled me. Dirt cheap on many parts, but incredibly expensive on a few.

I'm a Rockauto fan. They're priced right, and they're fast. And they warrantied a part that broke on me with no quibbling.

Rockauto was pretty much the main source for all the "no longer avaliable" parts when I first put the Fiat together. I am still amazed at what they have for old obscure cars.

To order a fiat 850 distributor cap from a specialist fiat vendor you get the privilege of paying over $30. It is less than $6 through rockauto.

My money saving tip for shopping rockauto is pay attention to shipping locations. Often times the cheapest parts aren't the cheapest. The last time I placed an order they had EDIS 4 plug wires on closeout for $7 and the EDIS coilpack for $16 but I would have been charged twice for shipping. It was cheaper to get the $25 coilpack since it shipped from the same location as the wires. I tend to have 3 or 4 tabs open when I am shopping rockauto to see what combination costs less delivered and often I can get the premium parts cheaper this way.

I buy parts on manufacture closeout even if i don't need them right then and there. I scored a complete OEM exhaust for the Celica for under $150 shipped like that. I also have a full spare set of strut mounts for the MX6 and Escort each. Two sets of spare brake pads for the MX6, and a set of tie rods for the MX6.

I think there's lots of other stuff i've got sitting to the side as well.

You have to take into consideration the shipping and handling, Often the part can be found locally for the same cost.

i got a Carter "HP upgrade" fuel pump for my T Type from them- it was a $135 part that was listed as a manufacturer closeout for $35. it even came with the "sock" that goes on the end. i got the last pump at that price. what i don't get about the way they do things is that i had the choice of that fuel pump for that price as a closeout, or the same pump at $135 that wasn't a closeout. really, who would choose the higher price?

A couple parts I've order have been perfect and very cheap, one was of insanely poor build quality and simply did not fit. But it was very cheap, so modifying it to fit didn't bother me that much.

In January, I needed a transmission mount for a 1982 Maxima. My local nissan dealer wanted $208.00. The one from Rock Auto's was $7.97 (Anchor part # 2487), and fit perfectly.
