http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Pittsburgh-zoo-trades-Big-Ben-for-Mario-Lemieux-042310

Updated Apr 23, 2010 11:04 AM ET PITTSBURGH (AP) Disgraced Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been traded for NHL Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux -- at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Roethlisberger's name has been replaced with Lemieux's on a display that compares the height of elephants with other creatures. Zoo spokeswoman Tracy Gray says some zoo visitors had expressed concerns about Roethlisberger's name on the display. She says Lemieux, the retired Pittsburgh Penguins star and team owner, is well-known and approximately the same height as Roethlisberger, about 6-foot-5. The NFL has suspended Roethlisberger up to six games for his actions at a Georgia nightclub where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault last month. Roethlisberger wasn't charged with any crime.

I'm neither a hockey nor football fan, but Lemieux has earned more respect than Big Bender can hope to achieve.

Maybe the zoo should offer a temporary exhibit featuring dangerous, predatory animals. I think Ben has some extra time on his hands; he can explore other employment opportunities.

Getting a bunch of 20 year old hotties drunk for some bathroom sex is a crime now? What is this, North Korea?

OK seriously, I love the "conduct unbecoming a NFL player". Huh? Have you met the average football player? Most are knuckle-dragging cavemen who got through college on their football skills, not their brains people. I love Big Ben and do not condone what he allegedly did, but come on. Football players have some moral standards? Asking a bit much there NFL?

Getting hotties drunk for sex is not a crime, at least until the word "NO" is used.

No, he wasn't charged with a crime this time. But, it's not like he hasn't had experience with this kind of situation in the past. Criminals have escaped prosecution because the victims wouldn't press charges, there wasn't enough evidence to act upon, or both.

Rothlisberger is getting off lucky, perhaps the same cannot be said of the woman involved, the woman who is someone's daughter - maybe even yours.

I would hope I had a daughter that wouldn't get involved in dumb e36 m3 situations.

"I would hope I had a daughter that wouldn't get involved in dumb e36 m3 situations." I would guess from this that you don't have a daughter. Or she is still quite young. They all do, some have more serious implications than others. Mine came to me right after her 16th BD and said "Daddy, I'm going to have a baby and I'm getting married to Julio!!". Julio being a Green Card alien with a pretty face and no job. Actually worked out pretty well, Julio turned out to be a very good father and husband. However, I did threaten to kill him several times at the wedding. Still love him.

Doesn't he still have the case pending out west somewhere? (Denver?)

I read the comments from Bradshaw saying that Ben just doesn't want to listen...to anyone.

I like the Steeler's, always have.Mainly because my older brother was a Dallas fan when we were kids.

There is this thing called innocent until proven.

Which is a lovely thing that has proven very well for him in the court. However in the world of public opinion, there is no such luxury. Pittsburg is a working class town and always has been. Peaple that even allow themselves into that kind of situation do not cotton well in that town, espcially when compared to a loyal hockey player who beat cancer and managed to steer clear of such situations.

He was not charged, and his is guilty of probably nothing more than very bad judgement. But that matters.

If they want a QB that'll keep his hands off women they should re-sign Kordell.

Has the NFL looked at the Bengals rap sheet lately? Talk about unbecoming.

I thought NFL quarterbacks were paid pretty well - couldn't he just hire a professional like Tiger did?

Tiger had an addiction, Ben allegedly went with insertion.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!

A couple thoughts:

Obviously, I should be a little biased toward ben. I'm not. If he'd raped some chick, nail him to the freakin' cross. I wasn't there for either incident, but chick #1 was berkeleying psychotic. No seriously. She was taking anti-psychotic drugs used to treat schizophrenia.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4473655

As for chick #2, charges were never even FILED. So why the berkeley is it an issue?

Was his conduct "Unbecoming of an NFL quarterback" or whatever? Probably. I suppose the suspension was called-for. As for the folks here calling him "Rapelisburger" and whatnot, I'm sorry the Steelers pissed in your cheerios by beating your team or breaking your buddy's jaw or whatever. Get over it.

Maybe he'll grow up and clean up his act. Maybe not. Whatever. I'm interested in seeing what Leftwich can do. I hope they let Batch sit on his vagina and collect a check, and hope, for the love of god, they don't put Dennis Dixon in.

The NFL's personal conduct policy is such BS - this whole episode underlines it, just too much secrecy. Big Ben did allegedly antagonize a ruckus at a Thundering Herd game once as a pro, told to me by a co-worker who was there - so he could well be a big tool. My advice - stay away from the dronc/medicated sluts and he'll be ok. There are plenty of easy daddys little girls out there. geez, I'm cynical today.
