I'm upgrading from a Netgear Wireless-G (WGR614) to a Wireless-N (N150) router. Could this be as simple as plug-and-play, or do I need to uninstall the old software and start from scratch?

Don't need the software. Just log onto the old router via the web address and print out the configuration.
Then plug in the new router, connect it to your machine, log onto the internal web address and plug in the configuration settings.
Who do you use for your ISP? That's going to determine how that router gets set up. If you're in the North East and have Verizon, you're going to set the internet connection type to PPPoE and use your Verizon username and password as the username and password. If you're on cable, you'll likely be DHCP, so it will either be set up as DHCP or "obtain automatically". Some DSL providers in some areas use DHCP, but a lot of them are PPPoE. Find out by logging into your old router at 192.168.1.1 (most likely) and see what it's set up as.

I'm on a Bright House cable modem in central Florida.
disconnect the old router, power down your modem, connect new router but leave it powered down, power up the modem, wait 1 minute then power up the router. that should get you connected.
