OK, so I have a rental house with a cool tenant and every once in a while its time for some touch ups. She says she wants to paint the kitchen cabinets. A friend at work turned me on to this Rustoleum "kit" and it looks awesome. This combined with new hardware would make a massive difference. If it works good in my "lab" I may try it at home. Given that it takes some legit elbow grease, I will be doing most of the work but thats OK.

If it goes well, it will undoubtedly make the countertops look like trash in comparison. That means I will be using the Rustoleum countertop transformation kit, too.

Anyone use these products? I'm looking forward to it. Don't even call this a canoe or whatever, I'm not promoting this, it just seems like something people here may have used, and it also looks totally cool!

My buddy painted the counter for his garage bar with that stuff and it turned out awesome! Then my sister did her cabinets, and they, to turned out great. I recommend it!

We actually just did this at our house. Degloss the cabinets VERY well. The results are really good - we're very satisfied with it.

This months Family Handyman did an article on the countertop kit and they modified the cabinet doors. They seemed happy with the results and it looked good in pictures.

Yeah, I just saw an ad for that on TV last night, its on my to-do list now as well. My countertops are too crappy to even bother with but the cabinets are worth saving. I'll never understand the owners/builders of this house. They sprung for some high end custom cabinets and put the absolutely cheapest builder grade laminate countertops on top of them, I mean cheaper than the stuff you pick up in a big box store.

Great. Now you tell me! Two weeks ago I signed a contract for a $20k kitchen remodel.

A friend just moved in to his families 1930's farm house and did that treatment. It looks 100x better. For the price, I would def do it.

I'm sure it works fine, but I really can't see how this isn't just a clever way to sell $20 worth of paint for $70. The claims of "no sanding, no priming" are pretty ridiculous once you notice that the first 2 steps on the instruction sheet are "degloss" and "apply bond coat".

That looks great. I really despise my countertop, it looks like some sort of weird, marbleized head-cheese... a nice sandstone solution would be good.
