Which one of you guys is Jack Baruth? Maybe he was just lurking. Maybe it is one of our long time posters.

Regarding the RWB Cars: Not my thing, but not bad comapred to some of the other atrocities visited upon Porsches.
Regarding Baruth: I met him shortly 5-6 years ago (when he had a VW Phaeton) at a rallycross. I thought he was opinionated and slightly arrogant, but also seemed like a genuinely nice enough guy. No idea if his stories are all true or designed to create a persona, but they are usually amusing reads.
Ok... When I read the article.. I totally agreed with him.. Hacking up cars to make goofy weird japaneese, drifting, stance, hellaflush nonsense... and the line about
The rest of the story unwinds as so: guy buys Porsche 964 Turbo and has Japanese guy hack out some hideous-looking bodywork, drop that bitch into the weeds, and basically turn what was a very complete and satisfying performance car into a rolling caricature. The car is then taken to SEMA so the tribe of mildly retarded sideways-ballcap mooks who clutter this country’s unemployment lists and convenience-store parking lots can crown Scotto as their king..
Seriously funny....
But then after seeing the pictures of the cars being beat up on the track..
Sorry.. I just can't agree anymore.. Some of that stuff is down right sexy.. I was totally expecting to see 'type R' stickers plastered all over the cars.. and.. yeah.. Some things are a bit over the top.. but overall.. These cars look awesome...
While I understand the purist thing.. Come on already.. If is isn't a 5000 mile survivor.. it is just another beat up old car which needs enjoyed.
We have people like that in the Shelby Dodge crowd.. Sure.. i get where they are coming from...
But if Shelby had to own some beat up 100K mile worn out creation of his.. What would he do? Modify the heck out of it and go racing.. You can beat your azz he would...
Love these cars...

I'm not the RWB video police. You may post it if you wish. I'll be sure to post a link when it goes up anyway, I'd like to see what you guys think.

More just a question out of courtesy.

And the sentiment is appreciated, but not necessary.
I'll leave this video right here.
(Also not the dyno video)

I love the black in the seams. Cool touch.
jg
They look incredibly cool.
I like that they're getting used and enjoyed; that's a good thing.
I don't like that they are built seemingly with more emphasis on aesthetics than function. When the location of the wheels is decided not by concerns of track width or scrub radius or tire size, but of filling the arches, that is a bad thing. I suppose it might bother me slightly more as the subject car gets rarer, but it's more a general principle thing.
What if he maximized the suspension and wheel/tire package, and then carefully trimmed the flares to match that result? You know, form being considered, but following function?

I also noticed that. Seams to clean things up a little.
My HCOTY article posted early. It's now up for your perusal. (I would post a link, but I'm still at work and the blog is filtered...luckily, GRM is not...)

You're the best!
Brad,
That's a very well written article. Good job.
I threw up a little when I saw they covered the car with bedazzler beads. I think the stock black car looks better, but to each his own.
Stock black does still look the sex, and I think we've found a car that TE-37s don't look awesome on.

They look worse on MGs in my opinion.

I actually really like TE-37s on Porsches...

Thank you. I appreciate the compliments...
Where are there bedazzler beads?
The screws in the front spoiler? I think those are rad as hell!

OK, I see the screw heads now. But I swear when I first looked at, I thought it was something my seven year old might have made with her jewel craft kit.

Thanks Lesley. That means alot coming from you. I've admired your writing for a little while now. Now if only I had half the artistic talent. My photos turn out like crap, and I couldn't even draw stick figures.

hahaha! I just read the article and when I got to the black car at the bottom labeled "Nothing to write home about" I thought... damn - they berkeleyed that up.
I do actually like the green thing (maybe less wing though...) but that was a pretty design before they got there. I'm not sure they improved the look in as much as they just made it different. I wouldn't mind squeezing that much rubber under mine though.

My photos turn out like crap too – I suscribe to the "shoot hundreds, one of 'em's bound to turn out" philosophy of photography.
