I just popped in to see if Paul was OK. Glad to hear you and the family are good, but sorry to hear your community is not.
This storm damage is really tough to assess. Some of the areas still cannot be accessed.
A few friends I know who work at the MCLB (Marine Corps Logistics Base) got emails today telling them not to report to work. Indefinitely.
The MCLB is a major military facility- over 3000 acres which employs over 5000 people. They reconstruct equipment and prepare it for redeployment. There are only 2 facilities like it in the world.
Pictures are scarce (for security reasons), but the base took a pretty bad hit.
Most of our largest employers took significant hits. Power is still out in parts of town. So far, 15 dead.
