Three months and about 1500 miles later...
Gettin' better all the time. Car came w/ Hurst shifter and Flowmaster axle back installed. Added a few mods since.
Daily commute is 15 miles one way, 55/ 45 4- lane plus some city driving, 8 traffic lights, good mix for fuel mileage comparison. In stock form mileage was 22 mpg average, not bad for 3.55s, so I think.
Installed an Airaid Race CAI (non-restricted) and a BAMA tune w/ Street (87 Oct.), Performance (91 Oct.) and Race (93 Oct.) options. The 87 tune seemed to take some torque off the low end but made up w/ mid range, exhaust note changed considerably. Feels and sounds like mostly ignition timing/ advance at work there. Pretty conservative driving returned 21.2 mpg, next tank w/ more skinny pedal added .5 mpg.... this only tells me to drive w/ a heavier foot. Installed the 91 Oct. tune last week, great improvement especially mid- range... no going back to the 87 tune now.
Installed an SR Performance Strut tower brace. Planned on fabbing one up but for a buck twenty nine on sale I couldn't even come close. CM steel, four hole flange mount, one stout brace there. Noticed the steering input/ improved handling difference right outta the box.
Appearance wise added a MMD decklid panel, satin aluminum fuel door and shorty antenna. Nothin' crazy, subtle mods for now. Gas hood struts should have been factory. The one hole inner fender mount swiveled under load so rivets were added. Still indifferent to the pedestal wing, that'll prolly get changed in the spring.
Dunno if I'll get to the 93 Oct. tune this year before parking it for the winter. Next on tap, probably in the spring, are D-Specs and while it's apart drop springs, control arms, panhard bar and sway bars. Steeda 1.0/ 1.25" Sport springs seem reasonable for a DD and the roads around here. Maybe a throttle body and more exhaust work too. I like where this is goin', keep reminding myself this is only a DD build. One goal is track cross next year.
Nothin' too crazy tho. Already eying used Coyote prices.
