Say, did anyone eat pie this Easter weekend? I really love pie, but rarely have any, mostly due to food allergies...But I had a piece of coconut cream pie on Sunday that was to die for.

You have a special talent for reading things between the lines that don't actually exist. I teach biology. I used to teach public health. I could not have quoted you the numbers off the top of my head (i.e. yes, I did have to look them up) but I was already aware of the trends, and their relative magnitudes.
There were no "oh, damn!" surprises.
I'd also like to point out that I had not read the last few pages, and had no idea what you may or may not have said before. It's a fine bit of narcissism to say things like, "Thinking I might have been being a bit of a homophobic bigot, Joey takes the time to look at some numbers"
I hadn't really though about you at all.

Sorry one more tangent in an already disjointed conversion..
Now let me throw this out there... Politically those who are most willing to "stand up" for the poor are the least likely to voluntarily give their own money and time to the poor..
(Back to using the numbers of social sciences again)
Even as a Christian one of the things which makes me laugh is the guys with the Jesus fish flipping people off in traffic...
I would guess... If you took a group of the straight folks flying that red sign equals sign this week... And a group of church going folk... It would be far easier to find actual 'hate' among one group than the other... I promise in a face to face group of people I am almost certain which group I could elicit a 'forbidden" slur out of first... and which group would take a needy human into their own homes...
Just saying...

My mistake.. I was intending to speak more generally and included you personally because of your contribution. I should not have done that... People are shocked by these numbers... And they are so out of whack it causes reaction... good bad or all to often ugly...
So you didn't think I was a bigot (I poke fun at myself here) but you did know the numbers.. and you posted them here knowing they would ... Well... I don't want to read anymore of your mind..
Well... Thanks for the support.. but don't post anymore of those lies... Or people other than me will start calling you a bigot..

I really do not like coconut cream pie. I'm not sure why--I love Pie, and cream-based pies (French Silk and Bakers Square Oreo are my favorites), and I really enjoy a lot of Coconut stuff, but I don't like coconut pie.
Thanks, now I want to go get pie. I'll subdue that feeling later by the use of beer.

Pie day was just a couple weeks ago. I didn't pick one up, probably should have. My friends the lesbian couple who live in L.A. love geeky stuff and cooking. I bet one of them made some kind of awesome pie for pie day.
Best pie depends on mood. Key lime sounds really good to me. French silk and oreo are just too rich for me. The important thing to pie is a balance of sweet with something bitter or tart like dark chocolate, granny smith apples, or citrus.
I hear trolls don't like pie. Unless it's like mutton pie or something like that.

I should have posted the picture of another one of my gay sailing buddies with his arm around GWB .... That would have been better...
Hold it together there ron, you are starting to drift a bit...
ronholm wrote: ....Ok... I really truly enjoy these types of questions... Lets give you some fodder and say my feelings on gay marriage stem from religious tenants... But I would caution you on calling me out to quickly for that because my personal religious tenants are the product of beliefs developed through personal experience.
OK. Obviously that does not surprise me. I wouldn't call you out on religious beliefs, unless you try to justify legislation purely based on religious beliefs.
I would guess that the arguments you state are really more support for what you believe rather then trying to obscure a purely religious belief. Like I said, just curious.
The interesting thing about some of what you say is that most of it can be scientifically tested to some extent. There of course is the possibility that you're suspicions will not be confirmed, as there is mine of course.

Oh... Look at that... Nice... Is that an insult?
If it is... Not bad!

Know what pie goes well with beer?
Do savory pies count? Steak and kidney pie? I can do steak and mushroom pie, but it has to have some kind of alcohol based gravy.
Does shepherds pie count as pie? I mean, it doesn't really have a crust. It has mashed potatoes. I mean, mashed potatoes are great and all, but they aren't a crust. That's like the savory version of cobbler. Peach cobbler is great, but it isn't a pie.
Wait... were these guys eating mutton or horse?
Not that it matters since they were making a stew, not a pie.

Mmm... pie and beer. You can have beer with a sweet pie too.
I would drink a good Belgian style or a heavy stout with the right sort of pie. You'd have to pair them well. Just not like a Pilsner or IPA. I can't think of a desert to go with an IPA.
It's funny, I've done a sort of informal survey of my male friends (both gay and straight) and I've come to the conclusion that most guys do not like coconut. How about you guys? BTW, my best gay boyfriend took me to the bakery where I got the pie. He got butter tarts. He's a former Nascar photographer, absolute best friend ever to go to the races with – we have completely different tastes and point out the cute race car drivers to each other.

…I’m not a big fan of coconut but I am pecan curious.

Not a huge fan myself.
Maybe something to do with eating large hairy nuts?
I am going to take Rhubarb Pie for the win Alex:
OK. So, in summary, we're saying that most men don't like to eat large hairy nuts, but many women like all kinds of pie?
I think we've compounded the issue.
