Well alright its actually "Little Dude" for now because he was the runt of the litter. All of his litter mates went to their new homes this weekend but he decided to stay so he could harass the red dog. Thankfully my Thanksgivings day break has now started so that I can spend a few days getting him all settled. He already knows how to come when called and is good about letting me know when he wants out to take care of business. He is quite smart and loves exploring. Now I need to think of a name for him.

Cool dog Is he a blue heeler, or part blue heeler?

As for a name, I'd stick with 'The Dude'.

"The Dude abides."

I think you may need to call him "Lebowski". That way he can have an official name and a nickname. And if he ever pees on your rug, it will be really ironic.

Or if he barks a lot, call him "Donny". That way you can say, "Shut the berkeley up, Donny!" and chuckle.

I'm going to have to suggest "Miata"

You could call him "MX5" but that would be stupid.

I couldn't call him anything other than "Ol' Blue".

Grey says I suck at names.

I vote for people names. That way when you meet someone with the same name, you can chuckle to yourself about that little fact.

Haha how did I know that "Miata" was going to come up? Can't go with Blue that was my grandfathers dog when I was a kid (and I have to show more imagination then that). So far names that I've been kicking around have been Remus, Loki, Zolo or just keeping it as Dude.

The Donny suggestion made me laugh out loud because I could see that happening soooo easily. So I might have to toss that name in the mix as well.

It was a lot easier with the last dog I named, he was full grown I started saying names and when I got to one he reacted to (he did a little snap in the air) so that was his name.

If you're talking mythical based names, Fenris and Tyr are also good dog-related names from Norse mythology. Fenris was the wolf that got bound and will break free at Ragnarok, Tyr is the god who sacrificed his hand to bind him.

I've got a red ACD aka Red Heeler named Loki. He's old and has arthritic knees now. I'd say it's a great name for a heeler. Norse god of mischief.

I did a few years of fostering with that breed. Great dogs. Smart energetic, loyal. Since you have one you know about the mouthy part.

They're the only breed I've had, besides my Belgian Malinois, that can bite and lick at the same time.

Gorgeous puppy...look at the chest on him! He's going to be a stocky one I bet. How big were his parents?

Xceler8x Yeah I've had loads of cattle dogs, currently I have 4 at my house not including the pup at my house (taking care of my mom's dogs while she is in Florida).

Yeah its kinda weird that he has such a broad chest his dad isn't exactly narrow but not stocky at all in fact he is about 22" at the shoulders and has long legs. The mom is about 18" at the shoulders and she is narrow but again long legs. He chases after that red male at full throttle and keeps trying to bite him in the butt.

pinchvalve that is the general consensus from people that have seen him.

His sister has actually gone to the guy at "Ruff Wear"

Or something weird, like Pomeranian? Something that totally doesn't fit.

He is God-awfully cute though. Joey
