Say something positive about 2024... no politics.
I'll start.
This was the year that I turned 13 again. I spent a lot of time riding minibikes and shooting BB guns... though not at the same time. Maybe next year.
That's all I've got.

I survived my third year in business and exceeded my corporate pay (from before I quit to stay my own gig + projected raises). That was a milestone I was hoping to reach by year 5 :)
Collected all 24 paychecks despite being a designer of high rise office buildings for the preceding 18 years. So that's nice.
I bought my first house. Started my first project car since 2020. Didn't get notably sick or injured. Not too bad.
I've made some positive steps forward with my health. I got to go on vacation with my wife. I had done major work done to my house and I got 26 paychecks!
I survived a heart attack. I've lost 60 pounds and I'm managing to keep it off. I jogged three miles in 33 minutes and 25 seconds yesterday. My company's stock is up 178% for the year and because it is I'm retiring on Thursday.
Finally sold Dad's house and property after three years. Estate to be settled soon. I can finally get my life back.
Michigan NC, visited Iceland and Greenland. Just finished a great 3 week trip.
But 2025 is starting rough- we fly to Puerto Rico soon, and there is an island wide power outage... So that will be interesting.
The boy took to kindergarten like a duck to water and his mother now has most of her day to herself. My employer apparently values me highly enough to show it. We've even been able to stay fairly clear of the various little dramas unfolding around us.

It's only 11:44pm CST - being in Northern Illinois you still have 16 minutes.......

Yeah, I gave up scanning the news 10 years ago, and it was a definite improvement.
I was able to stay on plan and retire at the end of 2024, and DW ended her part time consulting gig with her old job.
For 2024 we have been more physically active than we had been since the COVID WFH days. I'm looking forward to more time for exercise in 2025.
