Might be medically induced. If he had brain swelling, they would put him under until it was under control.

I know our previous VP at work had a nasty reaction to something his neighbor was spraying, medically induced coma to help swelling.........never came back.

Very sad news.

The BBC was reporting that he was already comatose upon entry to the hospital.

Didn't something similar happen to Mark Donohue? Was perfectly fine post-accident, and passed a day or so later?

Dr. Hess called it: Medically induced coma to repair a hemorrhage.

Lets hope the damage can be repaired without issue and the recover is swift.
