Anyone in the central mass area have some suggestion on the best place to take scrap metal?

I have about 10 brake rotors, dodge truck leaf springs (1994 2wd 1500), muffler, some aluminum pot and pans, aluminum swing frame, a kiss Sedona steel wheel (5 lug with good tire), and other miscellaneous metal. Later this summer/fall I'll have an aluminum snowmobile chassis and a metal shed.

I'm looking to get rid of the stuff that is currently loose asap so I can clean up the junk next to my garage, so I'm more concerned with convenience than trying to get any money out of it.

If a fellow GRMer wanted it to add to their scrap pile, or use for projects, they are welcome to it. Otherwise I just want to get it gone.

Many towns have a scrap metal bin at the recycle center. With the prices so low for light iron, most of the time I don't bother saving it. I leave lots of water heaters there rather than hoard them and go get $4 a piece for them. I still hoard non ferrous and cast iron, but light iron takes up too much space and never adds up to more than $20 a trip.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I'll go the recycling center route, since that is the easiest.

I'll probably go on the 13th or 20th, so if anyone needs the leaf springs or a glass pack (unused) for a project, let me know before next week.

I keep a scrap metal pile behind the garage, when the pile gets to be a few hundred pounds I'll post an ad on craigslist's free stuff. Scrap is picked up within the hour.

You'll need to log in to post.
