I need to seal the basement floor in our new home. The main purpose is to prevent dusting. What would you guys recommend? I'm not looking for fancy and would prefer on the cheaper side. Thanks!

if you are just worried about dust.. any sort of floor paint should work.

Concrete sealer will work and is much easier to apply. Surface prep is not as involved as paint, it doesn't change the color (much), it's just ends up a bit darker, and dries much faster then any good floor paint.

Any recommendations for brand of sealer?

I used Behr Basement & Masonry Waterproofer to seal the concrete walls in the my workshop prior to painting. It really improved the surface finish of the concrete by filling in all the wee imperfections. It's been there almost a year now, so I can't say how it stands up. Seems to be doing fine.
