At Ravinia in Highland Park (North of Chicago) to see the Prairie Home Companion radio show. Got lawn seats. Got great weather tonight finally after almost two weeks of rain.
Enjoying it so far.

We've seen him twice. One was part of his "an evening with Garrison Keillor" tour during an absolute blizzard in Hibbing, MN. I wasn't sure we were going to be able to get out of the theater. One was a Prarie Home Companion broadcast this past spring in Bemidji, MN. Well worth it in both cases.
Went to the show about eight years ago now. Every show since about 1997 is available online, so you can hear it again later!
FWIW, I have been listening to it on the radio since 5:30. I was going to go tonight, but work ran too late.

I feel like the entire show can go on relatively undisturbed with the exceptions of Lake Wobegon and Guy Noir. Possibly the Lives of the Cowboys.
I grew up in La Crosse, WI. Moved to Mpls in 1986. I was wandering around wondering WTF this "Garrison Keillor" guy is these folks all worship like a godhead...
Sometimes he's funny. Most of the time I want to kick him in the nuts.
I grew up Lutheran, listen to NPR all the time, and I'm a white guy from the suburbs in the Midwest. Probably smack dab in the center of his target audience, if a couple decades too young.
I really don't think I've ever laughed the many times I've given the show a chance. It's just not funny.
It's definitely geared towards older people, but I still find it entertaining. It does lay more towards the comedic sides of things, but it's a radio show like they used to have 60 years ago.
The way I see it, you either like it or don't.
To all those who say it isn't funny, listen to the news from Lake Wobegon "Homecoming". It involves a 37 Chevy.

Okay, the "Bop-Pop-a-Rebop Rubarb Pie" spots are really funny. I'll give them that.

Very true, I just wish I had not seen the movie.
I think he's amazing. I've seen him a couple of times doing Christmas shows (not PHC) in Detroit. Very funny.
I'm not Lutheran, I'm not a Midwesterner and I started listening to him when I first arrived here in 94/95 when I was in my mid 20's. I prefer to think you need a certain level of intelligence to get him rather than just being a white, Midwestern Lutheran

This truly is the single greatest story!!!
Ah, the family heirloom!
"Aparently, they did not think very highly of that '37 Chevy."

Also contains a story called Truckstop were the elderly husband accidentally leaves his wife at a Truckstop. He just sort of forgot that she was with him. He also realizes that he will have a hard time giving a police discription of this woman who has lived with for 40+ years.
Great stuff! This is the definition of clean humor at its finest. Lake W. always reminded me of my Grandparents home town of Boyne City Mi. I just wish I could have shared these stories with my grandfather before he passed.
